After the treasure trove of information you have tracked down for me, I'd like to help your hunt in any way I can. One thing that occurred to me is the link for many of the early German families through the Rev. Daniel Schumacher. Apparently, his records for baptisms is extensive. If he baptized any Zimmermans it might note the location. My Shoemakers are descendents of Rev. Daniel and hale from Weisenberg, Northampton. It is likely they intermarried with others in the church community, including Daniel Zimmerman. I have pestered my mother about Cordelia's aunts and uncles. She believes most 'fallen women' were married off and no longer associated with their birth families. Since your Daniel and Maria Shoemaker lived on one side of John/Susanna Shoemaker and Jacob Daubenspeck/Esther Shoemaker on the other in 1850, two things occurred to me. First, it is possible both daughters brought a dowery of land to their marriages. Second, the father of Cordelia's child may have lived nearby. This makes the sons of Jonathan Kistler/Sarah Shellhammer likely candidates. My sister and I are plotting a trip to the area next fall (when my youngest starts college). We will probably have to pour over local newspapers from July 1858 onward to find out who headed for college around that time. When we come, I would love to meet you and take you out to dinner.
