It was built in 1885 and was, back then "The Widows Home of Reading". The home prospered and grew in number realizing the need for for a larger facility. In 1903 a wing was added on. adding 17 more residents. It burnt down Feb. 2nd. 1905 and was rebuilt due to the necessity of a family's dedication to serve the needs of those who needed it. The home closed its doors in 1976. In may 1996 it was bought by Stanley and Bonnie Pilat and reopened. It is a four story stone mansion, It has been completely renovated to resemble the past Victorian style. If you have heard of it was it in Reading around 9th street?
