There is an 1890 census directory of Schuylkill County, your Mathias clan is up in Turkey Run, listed as part of Shenandoah, but a separate little coal patch. Joshua 21, miner, Mary J., Maggie. So, the wife, who seems to be Mary has died by htis point. Somewhere 1880-1890 I image you have found them in the census records of 1880 and 1900..here's my best bet on the family then by working with the two censu records. . Mathias, David September 1833 Wales immigrated 1866 Mary (wife) 1865 Wales ? dies 1880-1890 Benjamin 1867 PA Josiah February 1869 PA Mary Jane August 1871 PA Marg. Anne 1874 PA David Mathias immigrates in 1866 With a son born in 1867, he probably married in Wales.
