There are several places you can look. Who did he marry? Did you check the marriage licenses online? http://www.co.schuylkill.pa.us/info/Offices/Archives/MarriageDockets.csp Did he die in PA? Have you checked the death index for 1924 and ordered a death certificate if he is listed? http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1085804&mode=2 Did the family belong to a church? Have you checked the church to determine if there are any baptism, death/burial or marriage records there? Have you checked the census for 1920, 1910, 1900, 1880, 1870? These are available on microfilm at the Pottsville Library. How about the 1890 Schuylkill Directory? Have you checked the newspaper on microfilm at the Pottsville Library? I do not think the county any longer has these inquest records, so a newspaper article is probably your best source of information. http://www.portal.health.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/birth_and_death_certificates/11596 "Pennsylvania Death Certificates" The state of Pennsylvania has uploaded births in the year of 1906 and deaths for the years 1906 to 1961 . The link to the searchable indices can be found at: http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/public_records/20686 Also at this webpage is an explanation of how to obtain non-certified copies of the birth or death certificate for $3 per copy. The link for the form that should be used to request certificates can also be found on this webpage. Go down almost to the bottom where the link is to the PDF form you can print and mail in. Look for the words "download the death application form". These records are grouped in alphabetical order in some years and in soundex order in other years. To determine the soundex code for the surname that you are searching you can go to the link at: http://searches.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/Genea/soundex.sh Some names are alpha by first name. Those names are part of the soundex years of the death indices. You can determine the soundex code of the surname then look in those years under the soundex code by first name. Searchers have experienced the indices, which are in a PDF format, slow to load. Be patient if at first it appears that the indices are not loading. To understand what the soundex system is and how it is used you can go to: http://genealogypro.com/articles/soundex.html For the county codes, go to http://www.papl8s.com/pennsylvania_county_codes.htm or http://www.statearchives.us/public/pennsylvania.htm "Pennsylvania Public Records" http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1085804&mode=2 from Jerry Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm not related, but I found the marriage license application for his parents (Francis Hatter and Emma Dunleavey) and the application for Wilmer to Helen. His exact date of death was 03.27.1955, Hubley, Twp. Cert #28156. If you are interested in any of this let me know, and I will post further. It appears his father died between the 1910 and 1920 census. Here he is in the 1920 census with his mother and sister, Esther, b. about 1908: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MF1P-JP3 In the 1940 census, Wilmer is still a miner. He and his wife are listed with no children. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
