Hall, Judson S, age 7 Hall, Wallace L, age 4 Note, Minersville Street is now called Laurel Boulevard, it runs west in front of the Schuylkill Co. Court House. 3. One of the "jewels" of Mahanoy City is its Public Library located at 17-19 West Mahanoy Avenue. The building was built in 1906 and was the former Knights of Columbus Lodge. Many of us spent many hours at the library researching school projects. One of the renovations to the Library is to install an outside elevator. The elevator will enable all citizens to have access to the main and second floors. Another the Library has going is the preservation of the Record American Newspapers. The newspaper archives are currently stored in the Shenandoah Evening Herald offices in Shenandoah. Within the next few weeks they will be transferred to the Mahanoy City Library and a project undertaken to digitalize them to cd rom. Your financial help is needed..... The newspapers are the last written history of the Mahanoy City/Township area and are worth saving. The grant applications are a rather involved process and do not cover all of the costs such as the carpentry and electrical work to be installed, the labor for transporting the archives, costs of preparing and repairing the binders, and a multitude of cost factors too numerous to mention. PLEASE consider donating to the project...your donation would be tax deductible as this is a non-profit organization. Make your check payable to Newspaper Project, Mahanoy City Public Library and mail to Mahanoy City Public Library 17-19 W Mahanoy Ave Mahanoy City, Pa 17948 Attention: Peg Grigalonis Many thanks for your help. 3. I am looking for my GG Grandfather HALL My HALL family was from Pottsville, PA My grandmother was the daughter of William Brennan HALL who m. Mary Elizabeth LABOYTEAU about 1880 They had children: Mary, Marcia, Alice, Luther, Judson They lived in Pottsville PA Mary Elizabeth died about 1930-35 in Wilmington DE I can't find any HALLs from surrounding cities. I think the father of William B. Hall was another William hall but I'm not sure. Rumour has it that he was a doctor, but that's not written in stone. I do know that my GG Grandfather married Ann LLEWELLYN and they had two sons, Robert and William (above) Robert moved to Philadelphia, I suspect in 1850-1860....maybe later. I have this information from Ann LLEWELLYN's funeral brochure. That's all I know of him Anybody have any PA HALLs? Anybody have Philadelphia HALLs? I have hit the proverbial brick wall :) All the best, PD All the best, PD

    3. Phillip A. Rice and Jean A. Dellock have completed compilations of many of the Schuylkill County area cemeteries. The complete list is on the Genealogy Ties webpage at http://www.rootsweb.com/~paschuy2/ The list is at the end of the webpage...check it out. One thing to keep in mind.... The compilations contain only those individuals who have headstones. If there is no headstone, then the person isn't listed in the book. And, most cemetery records were not kept as they should have been...either flood, fire, or personal neglect caused many of them to be lost. Just because the name doesn't appear in the compilation doesn't mean the person isn't buried there. Schuylkill County birth/death records began in 1893...prior to that date the only record would be a church baptismal record....if you can find it. And again, those records may not be available...either flood, fire, or personal neglect caused them to be lost. Shirley

    1. Re: [PASCHUYL] PASCHUYL Digest, Martin McDermott of Pottsville
    2. Hi, I am trying to find my great great grandfather and family. I have found Martin, his wife and one child, John on the 1840 census of Pottsville. Now my challenge has been to find where they went. I know in 1860 Mary, his wife, John and other children wind up showing up on the census without Martin. I suspect he worked in the mines. There doesn't seem to be many census records online for 1850 in Pottsville or the areas in between Pottsville and Wiconisco, in Dauphin County. Any suggestions where I can go? Where do I find birth certificates for those born in Pottsville as several children were born there? Thanks for any help you may have. 3. Judy, There exists a 1879 version of the Schuylkill County Directory that naturally includes Ashland. I do not record where I found it, but most likely at the Pottsville Public Library. The folks there have always been most helpful if you don't want to/can't/ visit the library in person, just send them an email/letter. 3. I have been trying to get information from these records for over 15 years. Now that Father Hall.and Veronica Brennan have passed on, I am very concerned as to what will or has happened to those records. I feel these are our people and we have a right to know about them. Can we petition the diocese to have them printed for public use or make them available to us? I tried the diocese when both were still living and was told the churches hold their own records. I am trying to find out who the priest is now, I know he is from Gordon, I do not know his name or if he would let us have the information. Any suggestions help or information?
