Bill I am doing ok, how about you? I did a ten year search. I narrowed him down to being on the 1910 Census with his brother. He was not in the 1920 Census. I started this back in March and after many returns of my initial request, I finally received a reply from New Castle. I also ontained copy of death certificate on his wife Sarah C (PIKE) Buffington...hoping to see info on Cemetery, but like you gave me on her obit, it just said Elizabethville Cemetery. Her father John H Pike is buried in Zion Lutheran Cem in Rife...At one time she and her mother Lydia (Lydia is buried in St Andrew Church Cem in Valley View) had a Rife PO Box address. So its possible she is buried there, I don't have any church records for that church, DO YOU HAVE ANY? That should be almShouse.....aka poor house. I do not know where it was in Dauphin but in Schuylkill Co. it was in Schuylkill Haven and the place is now called Rest Haven. In Lehigh Co. it is now called Cedarbrook. And yes sometimes people are buried there. In Schuylkill there is a list of those buried there in one of the Rice and Dellock books. Don't know if one of the Dauphin Co. books has a list of burials for the almShouse. > [Original Message] > From: Joe Buffington <joebuff160@qwest.net> > To: PASCHUYL <PASCHUYL-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 7/5/2007 4:13:53 PM > Subject: [PASCHUYL] Dauphin Co Almahouse (Almshouse ?) > > Just received the death certificate on my grandfather Levi Buffington, he > died at the Almahouse, Sept 24, 1915 and buried Sept 27, 1915.
