They visited us when we lived in Selinsgrove. She was eldest daughter of William Tobias and Ida Klick Tobias, my grandparents, married 1900 & both deceased 1943. Could Uncle Robert be from this family? If so can rustle up some pictures somewhere. Let me know. Thanks. Are you sure of the birth dates of Mary & James? I have a date of May 25, 1842 for Mary, taken from her death certificate. It also gives her full name as Mary Marsden Greenwood in marriage records in Pottsville, PA on August 24, 1869. I have her father's name as James (another coincidence?) Mary named a son Franklin Marsden (Weller) in 1870. Are these just coincidences or is there a thread here? Minersville is a short distance from Pottsville in PA too. I have not heard of "Black Hills" associated with Minersville. Perhaps it's an area that locals called it Black Hills. Could "Scoubh" be mistaken for Schuylkill, which is the county name in Minersville & Pottsville? Hope I did more than confuse the situation! You will see a fence that seperates the Mt. Carmel Cem from the Oak Hill. Some of the fence they have taken down to expand the Mt Carmel cem. There is no road leading into the Oak Hill Cem. Coming from Mount Carmel via Fifth St. On the left hand side first there is St. Mary's (next to a firehouse). Further up on the left is St Joseph's and then Mount Carmel Cemetery. While exploring the Mount Carmel Cemetery it appeared as though they might be merging St. Joseph's with Mount Carmel. Is it possible that the Alaska lies between St. Joseph's and Mount Carmel Cemetery? Across the st. is St Peter's. Is the Alaska Cemetery across the Street from Mount Carmel Cemetery? I was only in Mount Carmel overnight and by the time I got there on Saturday the library was closed. Also, all the people you mentioned are my relatives! I was hoping to find their graves on my visit; perhaps the next time! Thank you again for all of your help. I guess I should have tried this message board before my trip. Author: scsirbak Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.schuylkill/11357.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Daniel! St. Boniface German Catholic Cemetery is one of my favorite cemeteries! I have many ancestor's buried there. It is very easy to find. >From Pottsville - Go North on Route 61 (towards St.Clair). At St.Clair, turn left at the second light, which is W.Hancock St.(if you get to Wal-Mart, you have gone too far) On your right hand-side, if you look up, you will see an old cemetery. This is not St. Boniface. Continue straight for approximately 1/4 mile. You will see a cemetery on your left-hand side. It is in Arnots Addition & they have a St.Boniface sign at the entrance. Make a left into the cemetery. When you enter, St.Boniface is on both sides of the road. On your left-hand side, there is a low rock wall, which separates the St.Boniface German Catholic Cemetery from the Irish St.Mary's Roman Catholic cemetery. The St.Boniface Church is in the town of St.Clair. What names are you looking for? We may be related! Phillip & Anna Margaretha Plappert are my Great-Great Grandparents & are buried there. There are also other Plappert's buried in the cemetery. There were Plappert's in Pottsville & Ploppert's in Shenandoah. I have seen the name spelled both ways. Let me know if we are related. On this page: http://www.jdland.com/cem-traipsing.html it has the following: "We went to Arnot's Addition, a little slip of land across the highway from St. Clair, where we had seen a cemetery on a hill as we drove around in January, and even though when we got there this time it said St. Boniface's Cemetery, we decided to pull in anyway. There was an old low stone wall down the middle of the cemetery, and as we wandered, we discovered the names were predominantly Irish on one side, and more German/Protestant on the other side. So we stuck to the Irish side and just started looking for any stones with Walsh, Heenan, Ryan, or Higgins on them."
