    3. Thanks for all your responses! Wiggans, or Wiggans Patch it is. Thank goodness; Fayette County made no sense at all. That book/map definitely does not have it listed, though it does list Boston Run and St. Nicholas, other patches on 54 west of Mahanoy City. I think all this calls for a road trip! -Pat.

    1. [PASCHUYL] WIGGANS PATCH
    2. Shirley Ryan
    3. It is WIGGANS PATCH...located at the south and west side of the St. Nicholas Bridge in Mahanoy Township. The St. Nicholas Breaker is just to the north of the bridge. Here's a handdrawn map of the area showing the various Patches that were located in Mahanoy Township...which surrounds Mahanoy City. The Ginther's were neighbors of ours...they lived at 400 and 402 E Centre St. Barbara was a dressmaker. George and Fred were furniture upholsters and next door to them at 402 was John who with his wife Beatrice operated a card/magazine store.

    3. I just received two marriage applications from the Schuylkill County Courthouse in Pottsville. First off, I must say that the staff there are incredible! I sent off my request on Monday, and today (Saturday) I had the records, all at a cost of 50 cents per page plus a SASE! The search engine on their website made it all so easy as well. If anyone in this group works in the Archives, please extend my sincere thanks. But here's my question. The first application is for Thomas Wary (Warry) and Barbara Ginthner (married Sept. 30, 1933). Tom lists his mother as Elizabeth Bradbury, born in Wiggins. The second application is for William F. Wary and Elizabeth Bradbury (married May 13, 1903). Elizabeth lists her birthplace as Mahanoy Township (not Wiggins), and her father was at the time living in Wiggins. Now, I have the 96 page Pennsylvania Atlas and Gazetteer, and the only Wiggins I can find is almost into West Virginia in Fayette County, I think in Wharton Township, on Rt. 40, SE of Uniontown, and NW of Fort Necessity (about midway between the two). So was there a Wiggins in Schuylkill County in Mahanoy Township which no longer exists, or was Elizabeth indeed born in Schuylkill County, moved to Fayette County with her family, and then moved back alone to Schuylkill County to find work or be married? I live in Columbia County, and am not too familiar with Schuylkill. Thanks in advance for any response. -Pat. Wary
