What is the correct name of the church in St. Clair? My grandmother was from there. Her mother was buried at St. Boniventure now across 61 and way up the hill behind the "town" cemetery..right at the intersection of Wade. I did not not have much luck with church records in St. Clair. At one time there were at least 17 churches. Have seen the name Hoy but not Bummerbach. Sarah was baptised at St. John's in Friedensburg in 1812 and in 1840 they lived in Rush Township before moving to St. Clair. I'm wondering if they were married at St. John's though Peter was buried from the German catholic church in St. Clair. I interested to see if they're parents names are on the church record. > > Any help would be appreciated. > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Is anyone on the list very familiar with the place called Donaldson? I understand it is no longer a "town," but is considered a "patch." I need someone to help me find the owner of a particular house. It was probably built in the 1870s or earlier. Our ancestor lived there and ran a store there for many years. I have tried the on-line parcel information, but it yields no results for the address I have for the house. I have called the tax assessor's office and while the person with whom I spoke tried to help me, she could not locate the correct property. She did give me information on another house with a very close street number. On Google street view that house was actually a block or two down the street and had a different house number than the tax office listed. I wonder why the Google house numbers and the tax office house numbers do not match. I tried one phone number I found on-line for the owner of the property just down the street, but the phone number was not in service. My cousin and I are planning a trip to the area next week. This particular house is the highlight of our trip. Although we can see it on Google street view and find it from Google directions, we would like very much to meet with the owner of the property if they are willing, and hopefully be invited to see the inside, just for the feeling of "nostalgia. Any help would be appreciated. You may contact me at [email protected] Thanks, Trish Worthington Cobb researching TOBIAS & WOOD from Schuylkill County.

I have a Mure in my line, but long before Schuykill Co. My line is from the 1200's back in Scotland. IF ANY OF IT CAN BE DOCUMENTED, THAT IS! I'm still looking for any record of a Joshua F Fisher b. 10 May 1846. Looking for a birth record for our GGrandfather Joshua F Fisher b. 10 May 1846 Schuylkill Co. d. 29 Jan 1929 in Erie Co., PA m. 1st Rebecca Todd Thompson on 21 Aug 1871 Rebecca Todd b. 29 May 1854 d. 30 Jan 1892 Joshua F Fisher m. 2nd Elizabeth Bole on 6 Jun 1906 Children of Joshua and Rebecca: Mary Jane Fisher 1873-1886 never married, never had children (possibly named after his adopted mother Mary Jane) John Enoch Fisher 1876-1895 never married, never had children (possibly names after his adopted father John H Crate and his maternal grandfather Enoch Dye Thompson) William Kelso Fisher 1879-1956 never married, never had children (maybe named after his paternal grandfather???) Sarah Ann Fisher 1883-1919 m. William H Meredith (possibly names after her maternal grandmother) Samuel Alexander Fisher 1887-1920 never married, never had children (maybe named after his paternal grandfather???) Family history states Joshua F Fisher was adopted by a German family (possibly the Crate's) and that he was born in Schuylkill Co. The Rose Twp., Jefferson CO., PA 1860 census shows a Joshua Fisher living with John H Crate and his wife Mary Jane (Thrush)(daughter of Samuel Thrush and Sarah A Kirker)(Mary Jane aka Mary Jame and Mary Ann). The Rose Twp., Jefferson CO., PA 1870 census shows a Joshua Fisher living with John H Crate and his wife Barbara Ann Cyphert. I heard from a Crate researcher that John Henry Crate did not have any adopted children. Don't know where Joshua was in any 1850! Can't find him in any of the 1850 census lists from Jefferson Co or for Schuylkill Co. I suspect they maybe could be related through the Thrush family, but can't make the connection. Our Joshua named his first born girl Mary Jane likely after Mary Jane Thrush (1st wife of John Crate). She must have had a significant impact on him, either by being a relative of just being motherly to him in her short time with him. He named his first born son John (maybe after John Henry Crate) Enoch (middle name after his wife's father). His third born a son was named William Kelso (Kelso is a common name in his wife's family (Rebecca Todd Thompson)). His fourth born a daughter born, our Grandmother was named Sarah Ann (Sarah was his wife's mothers name). His fifth a son was named Samuel Alexander (might be a clue in this naming). >From the census records it appears he took in two Weaver children who seem to be related to his second wife Barbara Ann Cyphert (cousins). Joshua F Fisher enlisted in the Civil War in Sep 6 1864 and was discharged in Jun 2 1865 A lot of the Thrush's were members of the Lutheran Church in Newville. One Thursh married to a Nancy Fisher specifically catches my eye. That Nancy Fisher is the daughter of John FIsher and Mary Alleman. Among the family trees there is mention of "Old Dutch Church" and "Old Dutch Graveyard" and Grace Reformed Church. While this is all speculation and in the Thrush's are mostly in Cumberland Co., it's a bunny trail I at least must explore. [email protected] wrote: > Today's Topics: > > 1.
