I've also looked there for records on my grandfather Joseph McKernan. But he was born before the church was built. Have you tried the Schuylkill county courthouse website for their marriage record? Bear and Elizabeth Hettinger. John was born 10 May 1811 in Schuylkill county. Elizabeth was born 24 Jan 1816 also in Schuylkill County. They married on 24 June 1838 and had 2 children: Amos (b. 22 June 1839) and Susan (b. 8 April 1841). They moved to Indiana in 1846 where they lived the rest of their lives. In Indiana, they were members of the Evangelical church. I posted about this family 8 years ago, but have since found a little more information. Any advice is appreciated. If so, the county did their own census in 1890 and that is still available - right here on ancestry.com. If you're lucky, they still lived in Schuylkill Co. then. Here is the title: A Directory of the eleventh census of the population of Schuylkill County : giving the names and ages of males and females, pub... I've been lucky enough to have most of my ancestors in Schuylkill Co. then so it's been a gold mine for me. I also searched the Schuylkill Co. marriage license index online, but no John Grosser. However, the records start in 1885 so could be he married before the records started. If you know the area he lived in in the county, start checking church records in that area. Maybe you'll find something that way. Good luck! -Donna Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
