It was the site of a series of grizzly murders in the winter of 1875. The murders were associated with the Molly Maguires and the house where the murders were committed was still standing until a few years ago. Peter Faulds returned home at 6'o'clock last evening and found his Mother-in Law in a pool of blood and his wife with her face disfigured by cruel blows. A search about the farm failed to find and trace of Mitchell, a youth of 20 years who had been employed there for several months.
