    1. [PASCHUYL] CRAWFORD FULLARTON GLOVER
    2. Peter STRAUSS
    3. This is my first posting to this list. I have tracked my GG grandfather's brother to Pottsville in the second half of the 19th century. Crawford Fullarton GLOVER was born in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1824. He was a sea captain and I have found mention of him in a history of the Yuengling Brewery as follows: " Each saloon apparently had its own peculiarity, the strongest example undoubtedly a caged bird that once lived in "Billy" Soell's saloon on Pottsville's North Centre Street: 'The big green parrot, swinging in its cage, in the barroom for years shrieked anathemas and profanity, day and night. Its vocabulary was most remarkable for a bird, and vied with the most notorious of human trouble-makers in the town. The parrot was brought here and given to SOELL by Captain Crawford F. GLOVER, Scotch commander of a sailing vessel....The precocious bird lived to good old age' " I have found GLOVER in the1870 US Census and he appears to have a wife, Elizabeth. My GG grandfather was 4 years younger than Crawford and came to the Australian Gold Rush C1850, later going to the gold in New Zealand. Whether they ever contacted each other after leaving Scotland I do not know. I am seeking any information on Glover and his family in Pennsylvania. Peter Melbourne Australia

    3. Don - re: Peter C. Kreiger - Although I don't have documentation, perhaps 10+ years ago, someone sent me a gedcom and Peter C. Kreiger was listed. He's supposed to be the brother of my GG grandmother, Catharine T. Kreiger Stauffer. The info on the gedcom was given to this person by an elderly aunt who had done research. You can use this info to look further for proof. B. 10 Jun 1838 in Schuylkill county, PA D. 22 Oct 1912 in Pottsville, Schuylkill county, PA If this is the same person you are looking for, he was the s/o Jacob G. Kreiger (Kruger) and Margaret Dillman, one of their 11 children. I'll look for more later if you're interested. Carol in CT On 12/30/2010 3:00 AM, [email protected] wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1. His parents were John Ryan and Julia Moore. He married Catharine Connors on February 11, 1885 at St. Mary's RC Church in St. Clair, PA. They had two children, Julia, born in January 1888 and Maurice J. (My grandfather), born January 24, 1890. Catharine died in childbirth on March 30, 1895. The baby, John Ryan, survived her by only three months, dying on June 7, 1895. Andrew then married a widow, Mary Anna Mellody Coyle, between March 27, 1897 and April 28, 1897. Mary had at least three children from her previous marriage, Matthew, born October 1887, Anna, born January 1890 and James, born July 1891. She bore two children to Andrew, Mary, born July 31, 1897 and Agnes, born March 2, 1899. Andrew and Mary lived in East Mines, a "patch" outside of St. Clair, PA. Andrew died on October 21, 1918, a victim of the worldwide influenza pandemic that killed millions. I hope this is of some help to you. I would greatly appreciate anything you might be able to tell me regarding the arrival of John Ryan and Julia Moore on the SS Frances. 3. Does anyone have access to this specific page? I saw a snippet of it on a webpage and the primary point of interest was an article about Lt. John Walker. However, at the bottom right was a blurb about Corp. Peter Donchak on a 7 day ?furlough? that was cropped out of the image. I was trying to see with whom he was staying.
