Author: puckgirl81 Surnames: McDermit, McDermott, McGlynn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.schuylkill/12037/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for information regarding Mary McDermit (or McDermott) born in Ireland about 1850. She had a sister named Ann who married John McGlynn (not sure if they married before or after coming to America). Ann was born in Ireland about 1845 and John was born in Ireland about 1840. Mary was living with Ann & John and their 3 oldest children (Bridget, John, and Patrick - all born in PA) in Honeybrook/Klein, Schuylkill, PA in 1880, but I haven't been able to find where she went after that. Ann seems to have immigrated about 1873, but I am unsure of when her husband John or sister Mary would have come over. Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I have done quite a bit of searching in Brunswick and Manheim and had quite a bit of success with this website. http://usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm You can search by surname for all of PA or just the county. You could also try findagrave.com for burials and try google searching your ancestor and schuylkill county. Some of the historical books are online. So for example: "Simon Marburger" and Schuylkill Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They're not specific to Schuylkill Co. I have all of them and did a quick search which was not very promising however other names might help you connect somehow. 1. "Pennsylvania German Pioneers," Vols. I & II, by Ralph Beaver Strassburger 2. "Pennsylvania German Marriages," compilded by Donna R. Irish 3. "Genealogical Data Relating to the German Settlers of Pennsylvania and Adjacent Territory," by Edward W. Hocker 4. "Acta Germanopolis: Records of the Corporation of Germantown Pennsylvania 1691-1701," edited by J. M. Duffin John Humphrey has also done quite a bit of research both hear and in Germany, so you might want to check his works as well. Good Luck! I've recently visited the Pottsville Public Library on line and they have amazing genealogy resources, including a very long list of obits for the Pottsville Republican, and the Shenandoah Herald. You can email them a name from their list or if you have the death date they will look it up for a resonable fee. Thanks again.
