John SMIDDY/SMEDLY d 1859 in Newcastle mining accident. Are there cemetery records for that area available online? I did not find him on "find a grave" or Ancestry. He was a young father so may not have headstone etc. He was probably Catholic as born Ireland & descendants were Catholic. Where should I look next? thanks, Patti

Old and New St. Mary's cemetarys'(St. Mary's Roman Catholic church - or the Irish church) and St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Cemetary. The Roman Catholic cemetaries are under St. Clare of Assissi Parish in St. Clair(they changed the name a few years ago from St. Mary's). The Russian cemetary is still under the same named church on Nicholas St. in St. Clair. Hope it helps, Dayna Delmonico Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There appears to be a lot of skilled genealogists in this group. I've posted something similar to this information previously so this is somewhat of a re-post. Maybe someone will have an idea regarding one of my many brick walls: I'm searching for information regarding Charles Joseph Meiswinkel, 5th of 11 children. Charles' father was Eberhard Meiswinkel and his father was Jacob Meiswinkel. Church records indicate that Charles' birth date was April 28, 1856 in Schuylkill County and he died July 23, 1875 at 19 years and 3 months old. I've been unable to find any information on his marriage other than it could possibly be about June or July of 1874 to Emily/Emma/Millie Meyer. Since he died so young and left at least two children (one may not have been his), I've tried to find out under what conditions he died and where he is buried. Maybe he died in a mine accident - however, I have no indication that he worked in a mine. I physically found his mother's burial in a 'cornered' plot along with one of his brothers in the Old German Cemetery in Pottsville. There is a small stone with the word "Charlie" on it at back of the 'cornered' plot next to his mother's plot. This other plot is a completely different family and I can't convince myself that this may be my "Charlie" and is surely just a name coincidence. Searches of the Republican newspaper by others around those dates give no inkling of how he died, where he is buried or regarding his marriage. Upon Charles' death, Emily left the children with her parents and moved to Camden, NJ where she married a Fritz Kinzler (or she may have married him in Pottsville about 1878?). I find this Kinzler family in the 1900 census in Camden. I've also looked at the Pottsville Orphan Court records( that I was able to find) and found nothing. I traced the two children (boy and girl) to the state of Missouri where Lutheran confirmation records indicates the girl was from Schuylkill Haven, PA and does not specify where the boy was from. Is there some kind soul that may have a new idea on this search. Note: I would like to publicly thank member of this group, Yvonne, for working with me in an effort to trace this family history into Germany.
