The number may be the one to use if you request a copy of the marriage license. As for the indices, I don't know what to tell you. My experience has been that I had to find the last name in the year I was looking for and go through each name. I couldn't find William and Elizabeth Richards in any census together in Schuykill County. Did she go by another name? I also couldn't find Thomas, Miriam or Sarah in the 1880 Census. I may be able to help you with Philadelphia. Who are you looking for? Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I did have some success with the marriage license indices. I'll keep those on hand now as I didn't know about them. I'm not sure about Sarah m Davis Oswald as her name was Sarah Louisa I belive & I couldn't find a Sarah Louisa at all. Thomas was a brilliant find as I read on the 1910 census that his wife's name was Harriett & they had his sis in law living with them named Mary Passell. So that sorted that out as his wife's name was Hattie & the sis in laws name was Parcells. What do the numbers with the index mean? Are you able to look these up somewhere & find the exact year & parents' names or am I expecting too much? I must say I'm baffled by how to use the death indices. I couldn't find the name Richards anywhere. I think I need some help here please. Rich seemed to be the best I could come up with! Now do Philadelphia have the same kind of on-line indices do you know please? Again many thanks for all that info, it's much appreciated. I don't know about phoning the cemetery as I live in Canada. Have you contacted the cemetery to see if Herbert's wife is buried with him? Have you checked the SSDI? They are the first two places I'd look. I've found he & his wife quite easily on the censuses, & their children, but it's very difficult to follow the girls as presumably they married & I don't know how to find births & marriages as all I know of to use to search is Ancestry & Family Search. They had 3 more children after they arrived in the US, Sarah b 1873, Miriam b 1877 & John Summerfield b 1880. They had had 7 children & just these 4 were living. I found Wm living in a Methodist Episcopal Home for the Aged in 1910 & Eliz had died there in 1908 & Wm in 1914, & they were buried in Westminster cemetery, Belmont. I wondered if anyone could tell me if I can access on line the cemetery's MI's so I could perhaps see who else is buried with them. I found Thomas their 1st child on the censuses & he had married Harriett who? & when? & they had 3 children, Samuel b 1895, Mary b 1897 & Alice b 1909. Samuel married Helen who? & when? Mary married Edward Reber & they had a daughter Gladys b 1928 & I found this on the 1930 census as Thomas was widowed & living with them. Alice I think was a secretary & in lodgings. I also found John S married to Priscilla who? & when? They'd had 3 children but just one named Elizabeth was alive. John S for Summerfield was bap in Oct 1880 at Summerfield United Methodist Church. Could someone please help me to fill in the blanks with this family & maybe do look ups for me or advise me where else to look for info on them myself?? Thank you very much to anyone who is kind enough to help me with any of this. Roz. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
