A. Parr. Sunday morning Jan. 6, Mr. Geo. A. Parr, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Warwick township, exchanged his earthly life with all its sufferings and trials, for that immortal and glorious life given by the Savior to all His people. The deceased was born Jan. 23, 1831 in a small village of Rhine, Bavaria. At the age of 14 he was admitted to church membership in his native village, and ever since proved himself a faithful follower of his Lord and Master, and a most loyal and devoted member of the church of his choice. In 1848 his father's family emigrated to the United States and first located at Cleveland, Ohio, but only remained there about two months and then moved to Tuscarawas County and located on the farm north of the village of Tuscarawas and there he lived and labored all the remaining days of his active life. For nearly 59 years he has gone in and out among us having a stainless reputation because of his strict integrity, his quiet and unostentatious devotion to his duties in the church, as a citizen, as a neighbor and as a devoted husband and most loving father. In 1860 he was married to Miss Eliza Weatherbee and for nearly 47 years they journeyed together heart n hand and brought up their two sons and one daughter, their only surviving children, to be useful members of society and a credit to the parents that brought them into being. Several years ago the deceased was stricken with paralysis and the recurrence of same disease at intervals gradually reduced his vitality until he peacefully and quietly slept away on the morning of the 6th. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kunkle, his pastor, in the Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon Jan. 8, at one o'clock."
