Parr married Bartlet Searcy, resident of Marion Twp., Doniphan Co., KS. In the 1870 census Bartlet is found living with his mother, E.P. Searcy, wife - Mary E. (age 20) and son - John E. (age 1). Now to the perplexing problem. The John Edward Searcy age 1 is likely to be my great-great grandfather born Aug 9, 1869. Per family oral history his father was Bartlet and mother was Mary Elizabeth Taylor. The 1870 census records fits this description. However, the marriage record is at odds. Date is about right. Was "Mary" a nickname for Martha? Was "Taylor" or "Parr" a maiden or married name? Did Bartlet marry a widow? Does someone have some data on this family? What is fascinating to me is that my husband's grandmother was a Parr from Tx! Thanks for your time, Becky (Searcy)T.
