    3. Did this Samuel D. Parr ever live in South Carolina? I might be related to one of the same name in Richland County SC, who lived there in 1830. A long shot, I know, but had to ask. Thanks, Joe Hammer. Not that I know of. His children were, Soloman, George, Levi, Priscilla and Mary PS, I have a cousin Jerry Hammer from Ohio now in Mo.

His ancestor was John Parr (born a. 1822) and the family lived in Chesterfield District. John died in a fire (at the jail) in Chesterfield around 1852. His widow (Nancy Ann Hewitt) later married Jesse Sweat of that area and they located in Berrien Co., Ga before the 1860 census. In your research, have you come across the Parr family vault located at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, SC? My husband and I lived in Columbia very briefly (job relocation) during 2000 & 2001. On a visit to the Cemetery, we discovered the Parr vault and it certainly caught my interest :-) Up until that time, all of his family had told me that their Parr ancestors were from the NC area. Finding a Parr in SC whetted my appetite. It was after finding that vault that I began researching some of the SC county records and indeed found his John and Nancy Parr in Chesterfield District :-) On the 1850 census for Chesterfield District, SC there is a Samuel Parr listed. I've been curious if he might be related to my husband's ancestor but have not been able to make the connection to date. On that census, Samuel appears as 80 years old and has the following people living in his household: Elizabeth, age 30; Mary A age 12; Rebecca age 10; Emaline age 8; Samuel age 4 and Miles A age 1 month. As I said, I don't know if these Parrs 'fit' into my husband's family, but I wrote down the information just in case I may need it in the future. I have additional information on the Parr family buried at Trinity Cathedral cemetery if you are interested. Also have a small bit of information on Parrs found in Union Co., SC. Regards, Nancy E Parr
