    2. Love is the answer
    3. Dear List Members, It is that time of year again when we suddenly will have an influx of new online genealogy enthusiasts with their holiday gift computers that are usually newer and faster than what many of the rest of us have. For a great many of them, it will be their first time online. Some of them will make mistakes and some may (will) unintentionally do things and write things that may be irritating to us and against what we have set up as our list rules. Please take this into consideration in advance and be helpful to them. If things get out of hand, know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problems. Just remember, one of these new members might hold the clue you have been searching for. Let us not discourage them before they have a chance to learn how this works. Also, belatedly, for those who know me as Karen Blunk...I was remarried last year to my high school sweetheart. It's been a wonderful couple of years for me, and I hope your lives are rich and full as well! I wish each of you and yours a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. Karen Hall Holmes loveistheanswer@bigfoot.com It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye! .)

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Parr Par Paar Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wl4.2ACEB/478.2 Message Board Post: I have read all of your queries and all I can tell you is that I am a Parr thru marriage, and of course searching for my Parr genealogy, there is a Dr. Sandor Alex Kolozi ( I dont no if I am spelling it right ) but there is alot that he can tell you. He helped me quite abit , I havent found any more relatives but I certainly learned alot from him. Are you sure of where your Parr's are from? If your Parr's are from Austria Hungary, of course it depends on the year your speaking of, PAR, is latin for Parr, most of the records would be found in the churches, mainly the catholic church, Par,Parr,Paar Parson ( at times they used Parson ,because it meant they had a son) alot of the Parr's came from Gyore-Medgye, and every generation seems to change their place of survival and they changed their names , for those reasons too, I would expect. That is a very hard period of time to find generations of your family tree. I too have researched and have been gun ho at it , alot of Parr's at one time their last name may have been Farkas. I have my grandfathers passport to come to the USA, he came over on the SS Oceanic, so I kept going over the list and wrote a few letters to the people who surrounded him on the list just to see if I could get an answer, I didnt. So, I went online to Lancut, Poland and found my greatgrandparents on my side, I will tell you ,it was like someone gave me a million dollars, I was so happy. I found that my grandmother was Polish,Catholic and my Grandfather was Jewish. I thought Lancut Poland was a town in Poland, but it was a country in Poland. So, basically what I am saying keep up the good work, I am looking for Angela Par from Gyore-Medgye, if you come accross her I would appreciate it if you would let me no. I thought I came accross a Wilhelm Parr in Pennsylvania, I dont remember what city it might have been Harrisburg or Reading, it might not be who you are looking for but their are quite a few Parr's that immigrated to Pennsylvania, actually Alex Parr from Gyore-Medgye, worked as a agriculturist, taking care of deer in Alleghany Mountains of Pa. 1897 Thank you for your time Kathleen Parr

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Parr, Searcy, Taylor Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wl4.2ACEB/484 Message Board Post: On Feb 14th, 1868 in the home of Tazewell Parr, Martha E. Parr married Bartlet Searcy, resident of Marion Twp., Doniphan Co., KS. In the 1870 census Bartlet is found living with his mother, E.P. Searcy, wife - Mary E. (age 20) and son - John E. (age 1). Now to the perplexing problem. The John Edward Searcy age 1 is likely to be my great-great grandfather born Aug 9, 1869. Per family oral history his father was Bartlet and mother was Mary Elizabeth Taylor. The 1870 census records fits this description. However, the marriage record is at odds. Date is about right. Was "Mary" a nickname for Martha? Was "Taylor" or "Parr" a maiden or married name? Did Bartlet marry a widow? Does someone have some data on this family? What is fascinating to me is that my husband's grandmother was a Parr from Tx! Thanks for your time, Becky (Searcy)T.
