I have just started researching,so I'm not quite sure where we fit in. The only reason I know we are related some how is because of the land in Los Gatos. My mothers maiden name is Parr. Her grandfather's name is Noah Parr of San Jose, grandmother's name Reta Jane McComb(s). I believe Noah's either father or grandfather's name was John James Parr. As you can probably tell by now I'm looking for any information from that point on.......I'm also trying to find information on my grandfather, Dudley Donald Parr, who went by Donald Parr. My grandmother had remarried, so I don't know very much about him. Only that he lived in Sacamento,CA on family land. Thank you for taking the time to read this, & any info would be highly apreceated, Cristy

My Mead and Steffee lines came to KS from Iowa and I keep running across the Parr name in my Iowa research so the KS Parrs may have come from there. I hope this helps someone. Blessings Gayla Meade Templeton The Gazette Davenport, Scott, Iowa Sep 2, 1847 Supposed Loss of Emigrants The St. Joseph's Herald of the 27th gives a list of persons suppose to have been murdered by Indians in Oregon among whom we find the following: Mr. Tucker and 7 persons fo Rock Island, Ill.; Job and Jonathan Parr and families of eleven persons of Lee Co., Iowa; Mr. McCracken & family of five persons from Wapello Co.; and Mr. Bothe and six persons of Lee Co., Iowa. His mother was my Grandmother's sister. Her name was Florence Steffee Parr Puckett. She remarried after John's death. She and John are buried in the Rossville, KS cemetery where her parents and sister are. I came on this board because one of Aunt Florence's grand or ggrands is researching this name and I wanted to post some Parr info re: being killed by Indians. The Steffee and Mead lines came to KS from Iowa and I keep seeing that name in Iowa so I thought if I posted he would find it. I just glanced down and noticed Bud's name. I swear these ancestors want to be found. I don't know much about the Parrs but there are a lot of them in the Rossville cemetery. I live in Topeka near our State Genealogical Library so let me know if I can be of any help to you. I am not in touch with any of the Parrs but there are some still here in Topeka that you should be related to. I do have the Steffee line if you are interested. Bles! sings Gayla

    3. I assume the hospital was Good Samaritan. When we located in Santa Clara County in 1968 we noticed the Parr street you mentioned. I always wondered about its history, but since we relocated to Morgan Hill, just south of San Jose I never thought much about it. We had a Parr in San Martin who raised horses. My wife and I were active in youth sports leagues and help found the Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League in 1981. We always got calls about horses, and I always wondered if the San Martin Parr got calls on Soccer. By the time I got interested in genealogy, 1992-93 I had lost touch with the San Martin Parr and forgot about the Los Gatos street. I would be interested in any history you might post on either Parrs. I am sure we are not related since my Parr ancester emigrated from Lancashire, England in 1880 and settled in Streator, IL. But I am sure your stories would be interesting.
