Phil, There was another Parr-Pair-Pehr in Mecklenberg Co., NC named Mial - Miel - Miles born in 1780. He was a bondsman for Thomas' marriage to Polly Stokes in 1804. Was he a younger brother of Allen, Claiborn, & Thomas? Or perhaps a nephew? Elayne
Posted on: PARR Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/surnames/p/a/PARR/queries?read=5 Surname: Parr ------------------------- I am searching for information about Amos Parr, my great great grandfather. Amos was born in 1807 in New York State. He married Grace who was born in Canada in 1810. John, their oldest son, was born in Canada in 1838. Their other children were all born in New York: Sophia (b 1842), James (b 1843), Hannah (b 1845) and Amos (b 1848). At the time of the 1850 and 1860 censuses Amos and his family were living in East Otto, Cattaraugus County, New York. James Parr, my great grandfather, married Louisa Fritz on 24 December 1868 in Hillier Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. At some point after marriage James moved back to the States. James had one daughter, Eleanor, and three sons: Henry Amos (my grandfather who lived most of his life in Invermay, Saskatchewan, Canada), Edward (who was living in Fredonia, N.Y. in the 1950s) and William.
No, Thomas Parr, Sr. was married to Mary by 1752, and Thomas Parr, Jr. married Dorcas, last name unknown prior to 1787.
Phil, Was one of these Parrs, the Thomas Pair/Parr who married Polly Stokes in 1804 in Wake Co., NC? Elayne Pair Place
I am currently making a revision on a brief History which I started (and never finished) called My Parr Tree. It relates to the family of Thomas Parr who appeared in Mecklenburg County in 1789 with sons, Claiborn (wp 21 Aug 1830), Thomas (d. 30 May 1845), Allen (wp 13 Mar 1849), John (probate Nov 1827); Bridges (d. 1839), and a female who married David Nichols (or Nicholas). John stayed in Mecklenburg Co where he died, Claiborn, Allen and Thomas went to Union Co., SC where they died. Bridges went out to Georgia where he died in 1839. I ama descendant of his son Bridges Parr, II (1805-1863) and Bridges III (1839-187). My great grandmother was Nancy Roxie Anna Parr, only daughter of Bridges Parr, IIIs second marriage to Sarah Jane (McCoy, Williamson, Parr, Edwards, Lofton). Any help that could be provided on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil Wheeler

To Dr. Arnold Parr and others looking for Parrs in Canada: I have recently found some of my Parr family through the Parr website at: www.globalserve.net/~parrspub/ProudParr. You might give it a try. Look under Brothers. Linda
I am searching for information about James Parr, my great grandfather. He may be of Irish origins, he was probably born in the early 1840s, and he possibly resided in New York State. On 24 December 1868 he married Louisa Fritz in Hillier Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. James had one daughter, Eleanor, and three sons: Henry Amos (my grandfather who lived most of his life in Invermay, Saskatchewan, Canada), Edward (who was living in Fredonia, NY in the 1950s) and William. James' parents were Amos and Grace. Submitted by Arnold Parr 5B Winsor Crescent Christchurch 8002 New Zealand Home Phone 643 338 4117 Work phone 643 364 2185

FORWARDED MESSAGE from Dorothy of Tauranga, New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: H & D Wakelin <wakelins@wave.co.nz> To: <PARR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 04, 2000 1:39 PM Subject: John and Ann Parr of Middleton, Lancashire | My interest in the Parr surname centres around John and Ann Parr, the parents of my great great grandmother Hannah Wild, nee Parr. Hannah was baptised in Middleton Parish Church on 29 May 1798. Her father, John, was a carpenter, and the family lived at Hopwood. There were two sisters for Hannah: Betty (bap. 1800, who possibly married John HARGREAVES of Bury in 1823) and Sally (bap. 1804), and possibly Mary (bap. 1788 or 89) . There were also at least four other births to John and Ann Parr around this time at Unsworth, (William, 1786, Thomas 1791, Joseph 1793, and James 1796) but after checking the parish register I still don't know whether this is the same John and Ann, though the family were living at Whittle, so it seems likely as this is not far from Hopwood. In which case John and Ann were probably married at Prestwich on 19 June 1785, and Ann was Ann BRIDGE. Does anyone on the List link with any of these Parrs? | | Dorothy of Tauranga, New Zealand | |

To put an end to the recent foolishness, I have set the list to "moderated" status. This means all posts will be received by me before being passed on to the list. Not sure what was meant to be accomplished by the "test" message, but it has caused several to unsubscribe from the list. I wish to apologize to the list for being away from my computer for a day and a half...wish I could have stopped this sooner! Hopefully, we can have the list back to normal quickly. Now back to hunting PARR ancestors, please! Karen karenblunk@bigfoot.com "Love is the answer and you know that for sure." --John Lennon
