He had one son whose name is Samuel (Sandy) Parr and is from Virigina. Any help would be appreciated to find his parents or anything about him at all. 3. Hi Sally, You will need to start your researching with your husband; his parents; his grandparents documentation and so on. There is no shortcut to collecting your family's documentation when proving your husband's lineage alllllll the way back in time. You are so right when you say that the Parrs love to imagine we are related to Queen Catherine (Katherine) Parr ... and, I've been told that some of us Irish Parrs ARE ... but ... we still need to PROVE it. Like you, I need the documentation in order to say that I am actually related to the Queen. Not only that ... but if you have ever discovered what Queen Catherine had to endure, you would know she was NOT a very fortunate person. However, she DID have quite a bit of influence over her stepdaughter Elizabeth, and for that I am very thankful. Elizabeth proved to be a very strong woman (and later Queen) indeed! Back in the 90s, someone was so certain of their lineage being tied to mine that they sent me a rather large manila envelope (postmarked Ohio) full of their research. At that time, I was working 8 hours (midnights) for a local employer and then coming home by 8AM and operating a publishing business for Canada's Family History News (a genealogical publication), so I did not have time to spare. About a month after receiving their package, they wrote another letter requesting that I return it. I never did have time to view it, nor did I take note as to WHOM sent it. I have been hoping they would let me know now that the publication (and my job) are no longer "in the way" of my researching. Sadly that has not been the case. Hope this helps you. Everyone with Parr ancestry seems to want to be related to her. She lived 1512-1548, so you have a lot of work to do to connect back that far. Good luck. I know my Parrs were Irish in the early 1800s, so I don't have that connection - Sally Houston To contact the PARR list administrator, send an email to PARR-admin@rootsweb.com. 3. Hi Trish - My post was in response to the woman who was trying to prove her husband's family tradition of relationship to Queen Elizabeth (which one?). I have no thoughts that my Parrs might be royal descendants or even collateral branches. I've not connected to Ireland, so haven't traced mine back before their living in Ohio. I hope the original poster reads your message. - Sally On Sun, Dec 17, 2017 at 6:30 AM, Trish Parr <trish.parr@eparrs.com> wrote: > Hi Sally, > > You will need to start your researching with your husband; his parents; his > grandparents documentation and so on. 3. [1]ancestry This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: loneliless Surnames: Parr Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: My daughter's school assignement is to create a family tree :) this inspired me to look for some information on my father's family. There's not much I know but there was a thread here in 2001 that seemed closest to my research. My father was born in 1941 in what is now Lviv, Ukraine. His name was Alfred and his father was Joseph (Józef). He had a brother who went with the Anders army and ended up in Australia. Joseph's mother was a Hungarian dutchess Ilona Deak and his father Jacob(?) Parr was a German (Austrian?) soldier of some high rank but it is a bit hazy here already. I have no living relatives who would remember or know anything prior to that period. In Poland only me, my brother and his two sons bear the surname. It seems that the rest of the family if there was any moved to other places. My mom once told me that some family from Germany wanted to contact us after the war through the red cross but in the communist times it was dangerous to admit such family connections and they ignored it for fear of consequences. I wonder if there is anyone here who could connect any of my ancestors to their family trees. loneliless@interia.pl Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Haley and who settled in Franklin County, GA in the 1790s or early 1800s. I believe her father was William Parr but am seeking some proof of this as well as the location and date of her marriage to James Haley/Hailey. The Haleys/Haileys were residing in Burke Co., NC in the part that today is in Rutherford Co. prior to moving to GA in the 1790s. I have not found a marriage record for Elizabeth and James but I know they were married before they conveyed land in Franklin Co., GA in 1800. 3. Hi Keith, I would like to offer you some suggestions. 1) "Dick" is usually a short form (nickname) for Richard. 2) Have you gather ALL pertinent documentation for your father? Example: copies of ANY or all of the following: birth registration, death registration, baptismal, obituary, last will and testament, deeds to any properties owned. These documents most like will offer valuable hints to help you find the same documents for the next generation backward in time. I have had the very same frustrations as you are detailing here. Having these documents to review really DOES help to know where to look next. You might also want to have one of your verified Parr males join the Parr DNA Project http://www.eparrs.com/ProudParr/parr-dna-surname-and-geographical-project/ that was started in order to make researching even easier once finding close cousins through DNA. Just a thought. Their children (Arthur William, Ellen Jane, and "Dick") are also to be found in the same census. Mystery #1: I have a baptism for John Henry Thomas Parr as one of their children but he is not listed in the 1901 census, he was born in 1898 and should therefore be there (although he might have died young of course). OTOH I can find no trace of "Dick" anywhere except on that 1901 census. My current hypothesis, which I'm seeking to prove or disprove, is that "Dick" is actually JHT in disguise. Might anyone be able to help with this please? Mystery #2: I have been unable to find any records for any of the family apart from my father Arthur William, since the 1901 census. It's almost as if they have vanished in a puff of smoke. It could be that I am being blinded in my search by assumptions and I'd welcome evidence that anyone else might be able to find which might help. Author: PennyEves1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parr/1403.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Pheynix ... I came across your posting on this subject on the Northamptonshire board, but it then disappeared and I traced it here! There seems to be no documentary proof that William PARR had any children with any of his three wives. William was born in Kendal (in the modern county of Cumbria) and was made Baron PARR of Kendal (amongst many other titles). I would therefore, firstly, assume that any offspring would have the surname PARR - not KENDAL. The IGI baptism in Morland that you have found for Elizabeth KENDAL is included in a submitted batch, and whilst not necessary incorrect, should be treated with great care. "Submitted" baptisms and marriages (usually identified with an initial "P" or "E" to the respective batch number) are just what they say they are - submitted by an individual, possibly - or possibly not - taken from original records or transcriptions. "Extracted" records (with an initial "C" for baptisms and "M" for marriages) are just that - extracted from original records or transcriptions. I'm afraid that if you are trying to trace your ancestry back to this Elizabeth, then the only way to do it is to go one generation at a time, confirming with original records as you go. Looks like we forgot to include the actual sale prices in the previous email! They are now included below. Also, remember that the Mystery Rewards will randomly applied. That means that some females might get discounts for Y-DNA tests or Big Y tests. That's intentional! In the spirit of the holidays, we want to people to share and exchange their Mystery Rewards. P.S.
