I have this from "The Hamlin Family" Book THOMAS PARKE,2 b. England, come with his father to America; m. Dorothy Thompson; was of Wethersfield, Ct., 1648; removed to Stonington, then to New London, 1649; Preston, 1686; first deacon of the church there, 1698. He d. July 30, 1709. The following is from the book "The Bromley Genealogy" Thomas Parke, born in England in 1622, came with his father and lived in Wethersfield and Preston, Conn., of which town he was one of the incorporators in 1686, and gave the name to the town from his birthplace, in Preston, England. He was a deacon in the Rev. Treat's church. He married, in 1645, Dorothy Thompson, daughter of John and Alice Thompson, of Preston, England. He died in Preston, Conn., July 30, 1709, and his will was probated in Sept., 1709. His children were: Martha, born in Wethersfield, 1646; died Feb. 14, 1717; married, Jan. 16, 1667-8, Isaac Wheeler; born 1646; died June 5, 1712. Thomas, born in Wethersfield, April 18, 1648; died 1697-8; married Mary Allyn, daughter of Robert, of New London. Robert, born in New London; married, Nov. 24, 1681, Rachel Leffingwell, daughter of Thomas and Mary Bushnell. Dorothy, born in New London March 16, 1652; married, in April, 1670, Joseph Morgan. Nathaniel, died 1718; married Sarah Geer, daughter of George and Sarah (Allyn) Geer. William, married, Dec. 3, 1684, Hannah Frink, born 1661, daughter of John, of Stonington, and Grace (Stevens) Frink. Toni, I don't see a James listed in the above. I descend from Thomas Parke. My line, in reverse goes like this (and I hope to heck I have it right) Cynthia Jane Parks married Edmund W. Hubbard, She was the daughter of: Robert Parks and Lucy Brookins, he the son of Ellijah Parks, Jr and Hannah Hotchkiss, he the son of Elijah Parks, Sr. and Anna Smith, he the son of Simeon Parks and Anne Button, he the son of Eleazer Parks and Eliphel Button, he the son of Thomas Parks and Mary Allyn, he the son of Thomas Parke and Dorothy Thompson Cynthia Jane Parks was my gg-grandmother. Her family was from Rutland Co., Vermont. I think it was Elijah Parks, Sr. who came from Connecticut. Would have to look at records to make sure. Been a long time.
