Since no one can find their family of a "James" Parks in Tenn., may I offer a little mystery that I encountered in the late '70's or early '80's?? I was watching Willard Scott, the weatherman, on TV. As usual he offered congratulations to those reaching their l00th birthday. I was really taken aback when he showed a picture of James Wilbur Parks of Tennessee. He was the spitting image of my great-grandfather who was, also, James Wilbur Parks, but had died in Eglon, Preston Co., W. Va.. in 1957. I looked up the name of the town on the map of Tenn. (have forgotten it now) and it was right on the western border of Tenn. Sorry to say, I never tried to contact him by snail-mail. Wish I had. Is your Tenn. location anywhere near the western border???? I might, also, mention that the name, James Wilbur, seemed to occur in several generations of my Parks family. My James Wilbur Parks was b. Nov. 2, 1872 in Reedsville, Preston Co., WVa. d. May 1957 Eglon, Preston Co., WVa., m. Laura Belle Switzer ------>(Newton?) Lucien Parks b. 1851 WVa. bur. Old Eglon Cem. m. Catherine DeBerry b. 1852 Reedsville, Pres.Co.,WV ---------->Henry L. (Lones?) Parks b. 1811 Va. d. 1882 Preston Co., WVa. m. Elizabeth Garner and 2)Mary Watson-n.ch. children: Caroline A.--Julia B.--James W.--Phobe E.--Burgis Garner---Cyrus Beecher--(Newton?) Lucien ------------->only have a clue!! on earliest Parks: ( William Parks m. Louisa Watson both living Hardy Co., WVa. 1850???) J.W., as he was known was an auctioneer, animal vet, and farmer in Eglon, WVa. He had lots of wavy white hair when I knew him in his later years. Might help---might not???? Regards, Carolyn
