This is in response to Dale Hughes posting of Peter Glick Parks. Peter was the borther of my ancestor Silas Leonard Parks born 1801 in Arlington Vermont to John Parks and Desiah Galusha. There was also a brother Louden, but I have no information on him. Their father was James Park, married to Mary Barnes in CT Silas moved to MI eventually and was a pioneer there. He ran away at the age of 9 to be a drummer boy in the war of 1812. He married a Canadian Betsie Elizabeth Brown and they raised 12 children in Shiawasee, MI. One of the older ones, Peter Parks was stolen by an Indian squaw, schooled in Canada and raised as an Indian. My grandmother Elizabeth Parks was born to Elon Galusha Parks. The Parks children they had where: William Parks, John Parks, Peter Parks, Elon Galusha Parks b.1849, Anson, Albert, Leusinda, Amanda Parks Decker, Mary Parks Albaugh, Emma Parks Flower, And zHeneritta Parks Thompson. Silas died 4-8-1876 in Burton, MI. Betsie died 2-1858. I am in touch with another descendant of Peter Glick Parks who has considerable information.. She lives in Blue Grass, IA.
