Mary, There is one vital part that bothers me. Do you know where Palmyra Lewis was enumerated in the 1850 census? I did not see her in the household that is -- presumably -- her father's. Was she enumerated in Rensselaer County? If she was in another county -- or state -- that would complicate the identification of Rufus from Brunswick as the (potential) father. Yes, you have her genealogy back to Rhode Island, but you need to know, as best as possible, where she was at the time the baby was conceived (and, where Palmyra was at the time of the 1850 Census is critical).
