You had such a nice letter. My Parks line is a very difficult one. I am looking for a Parks who married a Anna Knapp in and around LaSalle, Grant, and Caldwell Parish Louisiana between 1860 and 1880. They had two daughters: Julia Parks who married John Coleman and Lydia Ann Parks born 1880 who lived in the Rev. J. B. and Celia Lewis household and married Charles Henry Drake. Thank you again. William ASKEW was born 1823 in England, and came to Noble Co. IN in 1856. He married Lucy PARKS, also from England, Feb 1864. He and Lucy had a daughter, Emma Elizabeth born later in the same year. I don't know if they had any other children. The family left Noble Co. about 1868, and I have no information on them until 1879 when Emma was married in Livingston Co., IL to John Martin MILLER. William died 1893 and Lucy died 1908, both in Livingston Co., IL. He had a sister Ann, who married Thomas SOUTHWORTH, and a brother Robert (born Northamptonshire) who married Margaret GERKIN. Both lived in Noble Co., IN. Robert ASKEW was born at Thornbury, England and came to Noble Co. about 1862. He married Margaret GERKIN in 1865. There is a Charlotte ASKEW, age 13, born England, with the family in the 1870 census of Perry Twp. and I believe she is another sister of Robert. Robert and Margaret had two sons, Frank & Harry. Charlotte married Grant CHILDS and died 1887. Ann ASKEW was born about 1824, and married Thomas SOUTHWORTH, probably in England. Thomas died 1890 and I don't know when Ann died. They are in the 1860 census in Allen Twp. and the 1870 census in Green Twp. Their oldest son, John, was born 1852 in NY (perhaps shortly after their arrival in U.S.). Then they had William, Thomas, Samuel, Herbert, Edward and Margaret. I have found several of these offspring in the 1920 census. In the 1860 census of Green Township there is a Jonathan ASKEW, age 34, born England, in the household of Thomas and Mary Story -- Mary is a sister of Thomas Southworth, the husband of Ann ASKEW. I speculate that Jonathan might be another brother of William, Robert and Ann and Charlotte. If anybody has information about the parents or descendants of this ASKEW family I would like to exchange and share information. Mildred Prather-Garner Columbia, MO mprather@coin.org
William ASKEW was born 1823 in England, and came to Noble Co. IN in 1856. He married Lucy PARKS, also from England, Feb 1864. He and Lucy had a daughter, Emma Elizabeth 1864 born later in the same year. I don't know if they had any other children. The family left Noble Co., about 1868, and I have no information on them until 1879 when Emma was married in Livingston Co., IL to John Martin MILLER. William died 1893 and Lucy died 1908, both in Livingston Co., IL. He had a sister Ann, who married Thomas SOUTHWORTH, and a brother Robert (born Northamptonshire) who married Margaret GERKIN. Both lived in Noble Co., IN. Any help would be appreciated. Robert ASKEW was born at Thornbury, England and came to Noble Co. about 1862. He married Margaret GERKIN in 1865. There is a Charlotte ASKEW, age 13, born England, with the family in the 1870 census of Perry Twp. Since Robert was born in 1838 he is old enough to have been married before, and I don't know if Charlotte was his daughter or his sister. Charlotte married Grant CHILDS and died 1887. Robert and Margaret had two sons, Frank & Harry. Is this your Jonathon? I don't know anything more about him, but speculate that he might be a brother of William, Robert and Ann. Mildred Prather-Garner Columbia, MO mprather@coin.org

Does anyone have any information on this family of PARKS in Dutchess County, New York? Jonas PARKS, d. 1812, married to Ziller (Zillah) b. abt 1774, d. 1859 children: John David, b. 1794, married Dulina Hyde of CT Orrin, b. abt 1800, married Sophia Mary, b. abt 1802 Jonas, b. after 1802, married Sabrina Benjamin, married Adah Peter, b. abt 1812, married Emaline two other daughters shown on 1810 census but names not known. Jonas bought land in the Little Nine Partners Tract in Dutchess County in 1810. Any information would be appreciated. David, I don't see him listed in Parke of Massachusetts [online] nor in the two volumes I have: Parke & Parks of Connecticut and Parks Records. It is vaguely possible that he was the head-of-household enumerated in 1790 in Coxsackie, Albany County, NY 3 - 3- 4 [or related to them] There is another Jonas listed in 1790 in Charlestown, Cheshire Co., NH 1 - 1- 4 and a final one in CT Jona Parks, Willinton, Tolland Co, CT 2 - 2- 3 Other Park/e/s from Dutchess County who served in Revolution: Andrew Parks in MM Regt, from Duchess County Daniel Parks, farmer; born New England; enlisted in Dutchess County, NY, May 1, 1760 [sic, must be 1780]; was then 18 years old; 5 ft 9 1/2 in. tall Ebenezer Park, Dutchess County, NY, 6th Regt. Elijah Park; Dutchess County, NY 6th Regt. John Park; Dutchess county; 7th regt. John Parks; from Dutchess county, NY in M. M. regt. Jonas Parks, Dutchess county; in 6th regt. Joseph Park, Dutchess County; in 6th regt. Nathaniel Parks, Dutchess county; 6th regt. Samuel Parks, Dutchess county, 6th regt. Whiten Parks, Dutchess Co., 6th regt. So, those were men who served from Dutchess County. Depending on when your Jonas was born, he might be the one above. Surely, with luck, some of the others are relatives. Thank you Cheryl for your time and efforts. I have no problem finding Palmyra Lewis and have her genealogy back to Rhode Island. Rufus Parks is the missing link. I found the Rufus from Brunswick on Ancestry (can't imagine why I didn't see him before). I suppose he could have been Charles' father. Whoever my Rufus is he was either married or was 'passing through town'. I doubt I will ever know unless we could find a DNA match. Thankls, Mary Cheryl Morris wrote: > I looked it up on Ancestry searching the 1850 Census for Rensselaer and > also ran the other names as well. Mary, There is one vital part that bothers me. Do you know where Palmyra Lewis was enumerated in the 1850 census? I did not see her in the household that is -- presumably -- her father's. Was she enumerated in Rensselaer County? If she was in another county -- or state -- that would complicate the identification of Rufus from Brunswick as the (potential) father. Yes, you have her genealogy back to Rhode Island, but you need to know, as best as possible, where she was at the time the baby was conceived (and, where Palmyra was at the time of the 1850 Census is critical). Cheryl
I looked it up on Ancestry searching the 1850 Census for Rensselaer and also ran the other names as well. But, if your ancestor had a child prior to the 1850 Census date, you might be able to find her. The question is where. And my ISP [in Canada] cuts off any other ISPs who allow spam forwarding - they even once cut off Telia who is the Swedish ISO [for all of Sweden, I think]. Mary Ann, We don't know who our Effie married. We know that her father was not a Cherokee, but we don't know about her mother. The only other info we have is that she had a sister named Grace May, born in 1869, and a brother, Charles Dean, born in 1874. That's all we have on them. Marlene

Hi, We have an Effie Parke/Parks on our family tree. Do you know when she was born? Our Effie Evelyn Parke was born Feb. 12, 1871, the daughter of Martin Parke and Mary Day in Ohio. We don't know who she married, but if the date matches, maybe we could share info. Thanks, Marlene Parks
Her maiden name is Parks they were married in the early 1900 hundreds in Missouri. I was told they they are hard to find because Effie was born in the reservation and there were no records. Does this sound right?? Thank You ~ Mary Ann Roubideau wrote: > More information is needed. He was born in 1920 and died in 1932. I posted a message over a month ago with the same info asking if he was in your database. I wanted to know who his parents were. My PARKS relatives are buried near him, ALFORD & LAURA TRENT PARKS, MARION PARKS, ANDREW PARKS & my grampa CLEVELAND PARKS. > I thought he must be related to me somehow, so I wonderered if any of my PARKS are in your database. > Roubideau wrote:More information is needed.
