Hello, The only dispute as to who Roger Parke of Hopewell, NJ is has been put out by a Gertrude Urughart who thinks that Roger Parke of Hopewell came from Nottingham, England instead of Northumberland Co. England. This is incorrect information and The Parke Society will probably put out a notice about this on internet. We have documentation that Roger Parke, b. 1648, m. 1676 to Ann Patison in Hexham, Northumberland Co., England came to America in 1682 (Letter of Removal from Northumberland Co. Monthly Meetings to Chesterfield Monthly meetings in Burlg. Co., NJ. We have already documented that Roger Parke who was in the Chesterfield M. M. (Quaker) in Burlg. Co., lived in Crosswicks ,then bought property in Hopewell, NJ. is the only Roger Parke. Mrs. Urughart thinks that because a Roger Parkes name is found in same area, that we made a mistake and she is right. Don't get mislead by her version. The John Park I line (Roger S. b. 1648 has already been proved by DNA) Also some of the Roger Parke Jr. b. 1684 (my line ) has also been proven. I hope that many members will get their DNA tested to prove for sure which line they belong to From what I have been hearing, from members who have tested, all are of the Roger Parke of Hopewell lineage (Roger b. 1`648,) This is good news. Some have only guessed that they belonged to the Roger line, so this will settle thngs one and for all.The Parke Society (Historian, Tad Parks, Jean Churchill, Librarian and Percy are staying with the present Roger Parke, written up by Percy as well as myself. There was another Park line in Hunterdon Co., NJ late 1700's that is not connected to Roger, so this will help those prove their lineage. Newsletter is on the way today. I am going to read the first issue in a few minutes. Cecilia B. Parke, PS#535
Is there a way I can find out if the Parke society has information about my ancestors? If so, I would definitely join. However, I only have information 4 generations back and may need to go farther back to find a connection... I am a g-grandson of Willard L Parks (1874-1950) who was a son of Joseph M Parks (1834-1917) Joseph Parks was born in Chittenden County VT and died in MN -brad (a novice)

It has already been brought to my attention that there is dispute about who the descendants of Roger Parke are, so I hope the DNA test will provide conclusive results.

Dear Betsy, Thanks for replying. I will get back with you later on the book. I did not notice your name as a member of The Parke Society. Are you? Did you buy a book from me? As a member of the Society, you could most likely mention your book, etc., in one of the newsletters, relating to your James Park lineage and perhaps find some interested distant cousins. Since you are trying to sell your book, you could also place one in The Parke Society Library with the condition that it not be circulated until you inform them. They will only keep it for reference. Publishing a book is great and I have learned alot. I have been asked by several to do another up to date one but will wait on that, since we are now involved in DNA testing for the Roger Parke lineage. Who knows what will show up. Merry Christmas Cecilia B. Parke PS#535

I have a Job Parks in my line. Job was born on 1 Dec. 1799 in Wilkes Co. Ga. and died 31 August, 1824. He married Ann Hatcher on 8 April, 1923. His father and mother was William and Mary Callaway Parks. William was born in 1775 in Wilkes Co. N.C.. The son of George and Catherine Dunlap Parks. Job had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. The third child was Levi Parks who was my ggg grandfather. This might lead you to some one in your line. Grady Ramey--gradyramey@ev1.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hubert V. I have no more information on my Effie Parks, I know she was married in Missouri. She was born on the Indian Reservation in Missouri and died when she was in her early twenties with TB and left behind three young children. The man she married was Robert Hicks. Two of the kids names were Aaron Hicks and Earl Lanzy Hicks. If any of this sounds familiar please email me. I have written before, and am out of the Reverend Andrew Parks line. We moved to Carson City Nevada two years ago. I have found a number of PARK and PARKS monuments in various cemeteries in this area. If anyone is looking for info on graves in this area, let me know. I have a digital camera, and can send photos of stones if desired. Regards, Fred L. Turner

Janie, For years I have looked for the parents of my James Clift. He is shown on the 1850 Lincoln County, TN, census, and is aged 45 or so, with a wife, Mary (Polly), and I cannot find out who his parents were. His daughter, Margaret, married my great grandfather, John Moore Park. The Park has only one "s" (Park) but this is used as one and the same many times. Also, I have found some Parks in Ellis County, Texas, in 1880 Census. Look on the new LDS site. There is some connection with this Parks and the Clift family. I don't know exactly what. Need to go tend to Thanksgiving dinner preparation, but will be back in touch. Interesting info you have. Joyce Park Riggs
I was watching the History Channel's presentation of Raising The Hunley. The Confederate Submarine that bombed a union ship. It didn't make it back though and a Thomas Parks was among the sailers to drown.
Marie, Maybe we can help each other. For years I have searched for info on my William H. Parks who married Malinda Clift, I believe in Tennessee. They had a daughter named Martha Parks Hickey, b. 1822 in TN. That is all I know about William and Malinda. I could be possible they were the parents of your William H. Parks. If you run across anything in your search, please get back to me. This may not be a connection for either of us, but it's worth a look. Janie Furman
While searching another list (Kanawha Co., WV) for information on my great grandfather, Nathaniel "Nat" Wilson, I keep running into Job Parks. Just who is he and where does he fit. Does anyone have his ancestors or descendents. The reason I am asking this question is there is a Parks name in my family and I can't find where it came from. Bud White - WV
No, What I have posted is all that I have on Sarah Parks. Do you have a location for your William Parks? Julius Glatz was b. Aug. 1825 in Berlin, Prussia (Germany}. He came to this county about 1852 and was a Confederate Soldier. He lived in Atlanta for about 10 years, which would have been after the marriage that I found in Clarke Co., Ga. I just keep looking for some kind of proof that this could be the first marriage of Julius Glatz. Thank you for the reply.
My William is from Cobb County GA born 1826 also served in Civil War was killed 4/9/1864 the day before Lee surrendered as He was with Gen Lee's Staff. Sarah was born in 1849 in Ga, I have no further in on Her and have been looking for some.
