HI! thanks for replying. As far as I know my Parks were from Virginia and Ky. I have my oldest ancestor as Robert Parks who lived in Greenup County Ky. Check out my website and see if anything looks familiar. www.geocities.com/sunshine311_us/index.html Shelly Sabeckum@aol.com wrote: Shelly, I too am a Parks. Gordon, Thank you for information on various Parks lines. It helps to know in some cases that we are not chasing down an unprofitable line and that others have found some things "possible." Have any of you on the list found a Wesley Parks, born 1850 in MI in your searches? Wesley's mother was Caroline [maiden name unknown but might be Bears/Behrs] and she married Ebenezer Parks about 1847/49. Caroline was born about 1829 in Ohio. Ebenezer died in 1851 and Caroline was still in Lenawee County, MI until about 1853. I believe that she probably remarried but have not found her. With her might have been step-children born in Ohio: John [b. 1839] and Margaret [b. 1837]. Wesley is found in 1880 in Dubuque, Dubuque Co., Iowa and had been married in about 1872 to Henrietta M. [last name not known]. Wesley and Henrietta are again found in 1910 and 1920 in Maple Plain, Barron County, Wisconsin. Apparently, they died sometime between 1920 and 1930 [or else moved totally away from the area]. Wesley and Henriette had no children. I am very anxious to find Caroline as well as John and Margaret. I would expect that the family would be found somewhere between Lenawee County, MI and Dubuque Co., Iowa - but that is the closest I can narrow it. Help appreciated. Cheryl Morris
The Whiting Parks 'thread' started with a query from Viola Larsen that asked (paraphrasing) if the Jonathan Parks who m Mary Whiting had a son named Whiting Parks who (in turn) had a dau named Sarah. This files of the Parke Society show that the Whiting, son of Jonathan and Mary had the following children: Samuel, 1774; Whiting 1777; Mary 1774 (copying what it says); Washington, Jonathan, Betsey, Matilda, Warren, Clara and Patience 1790. There does not appear to be any "Sarah". David Condit followed with the citation that a Jonas Parks *could* be one of Jonathan and Mary's sons. The files of the Parke Society show that their children were Jonathan 1728; Samuel 1731; Whiting c 1735; Jonas (notation: possible); and Richard (notation: possible). David further mentions that Jonathan 1728 married Polly. The file says her last name was Washington. This *could* account for why Jonathan's brother Whiting named one of his children Washington. Fred Saar later gave Rensselaer Co, NY info he 'uncovered' that gives Whiting's birth as 1725 rather than the c 1735 in the Society file. The spouse as Mary Sutherland is confirmed by the file. The file regarding their son Whiting 1777 also contains the confusion regarding the name of the spouse. Care is suggested in 'dating' the birth of Whiting, since 1735 seems to 'fit' more closely with the birth dates of his children. In another "mini thread" Kelly A Parks asked if anyone was working on the Linfield Parks line with a lineage from Benjamin, from John? from Thomas? from John?. The Society files show the first John and his father Thomas, but Thomas is listed as the 'founder' which means the Society has no further information on progenitors. Chris (Mekongriver38744) asked if anyone has the name of Linfield's wife. Regret that the Society file does not have that information - not even a first name. In the final query on which we could find any information, Harold Parks asks if anyone has information about the children of Joseph Parks, Sr, Jr or III. The Society files show Joseph Sr as the 'founder' with child Joseph Jr, and Joseph Jr's children as Joseph III and Major as he stated. There is no mention of a brother Henry. The *only* child listed for Joseph III is a James 1796 VA who m a cousin Rebecca Parks 1795 VA, daughter of Joseph III's brother Major. They both died in NC. There is no information on their children. This cannot be a regular 'service' but will be posted on and 'ad hoc' basis as time permits if it seems to be of any value. Hi, Thanks for writing. My Lillie married around 1895 and they lived in Michigan. She died around 1907, leaving 4 young children. It is sad that no one knows much about her. The father of the children would not talk about her. Not a happy marriage, I guess. Hi, I am searching for the father of Lillie or Lilla Parks. Lillie was born in Michigan in 1880. She states on the 1900 census that her father was born in New York and her mother was born in Pennsylvania. On the 1880 census I found a William Parks married to Eliza with a baby daughter Lilla. They were living in Michigan. Does anyone have any of these people? Kay
My Benjamin Parks was a revolutionary soldier. I don't have my info unpacked yet, so I can't give you specifics but if I remember correctly Benjamin was born in the mid 1700's. Vern, I do show Whiting Parks as the fourth son of Jonathan and Mary (Whiting) Parks. I show him born 1735, died about 1801 Dutchess Co., NY. I indicate he was in the Revolutionary War, 6th Regt., Dutchess Co., NY and that he married Mary Sutherland. Fred actually has as much or more detail than I do. I am trying to prove or disprove that Whiting Parks had a brother named Jonas, born in CT in 1738 who also served in the 6th Regt., Dutchess Co. I have nothing on Whiting's children, but will look through information I may not have entered to see if Sarah shows up.
