    3. NO I am not the author I forwarded it to the list because I too thought that it was the best thing I have read in a long time. It was Forwarded to me by [email protected] I am trying to find out from her who was the author. today she sent me this: ~ Welcome to Heartwarmers4u ~ The best thing to happen to mornings since the Sun! Your morning Irish blessing: May misfortune follow you the rest of your life, but never catch up. As the full fury of Hurricane Floyd is being felt along the Southeastern United States, true stories of heroism and kindness are surfacing -- proving once again how the "human spirit triumphs over adversity." Today, we are glad to report that one of our most beloved writers, Roger Kiser, a Heartwarmer Gem, is back home in his Georgia home, safe and sound, after the storm's wrath passed his area. He gives us his first hand account of what happened to his life in the past 72 hours. However, other areas are still in Floyd's path -- our thoughts and prayers are for everyone touched by this storm. We're sure that we will hear many stories over the next few days. Sometimes it takes the worst of circumstances to bring out our best qualities. Sorry I caused so much confusion, but I could not get over that story. Not one instance of a "ME FIRSTER" in it. 3. In response to Samuel Parks and Susannah Taylor posted by Tom Hartman, I found an interesting genealogy about this family in HISTORY OF CHEROKEE INDIANS-OLD FAMILIES AND THIER GENEALOGY written by Emmet Starr who was a Cherokee himself. It was written in 1923 as I recall. Susannah Taylor was a Cherokee and the Taylor genealogy is in the book. I assume Samuel married into the Cherokee and may not have been of Cherokee blood. I didn't find his family genealogy, except for his children named by Tom in his query. Wanda

    3. I notice that several are researching Cyrus PARKS who lived in Cherokee County Texas. I have "Cherokee County History" published by the Cherokee County Historical Commission in 1986. In a section entitled, " The Creation of a County," While researching my Park line, I found the following mention of a Cyrus Parks: "On April 11, 1846, the boundaries of Cherokee County were fixed by law . . . The law creating the county also named a Commission composed of Elisha MOSELEY, John H. IRBY, Col. Cyrus PARKS, Nathaniel KILLOUGH, William ROARK, W. Y. LACY, Samuel BOX, and William S. BOX to mark the boundaries of the county; to locate a county seat to be called Rusk within three miles of the geographic center of the county; to purchase at least 100 acres of land for the town site (by condemnation if necessary); and to reserve lots for a courthouse, jail, and public buildings." Unfortunately I did not find anything about my Park ancestor, Pascal Ledbetter PARK b. 1832 in Alabama, lived in Tippah County, Miss. d. 1910 in Ellis County, Tx. 3. I am trying to find more information on Sophia Parks, daughter or grandaughter of Rachel Parks. Sophia as history has it, gave birth to an illigitimate son in 1861. (James Monroe Parks) James M. Parks was my great grandfather. He was abandoned on a plantation in Forsyth County, NC. Because of the shame of being illigitimate, none of the children of James Monroe Parks and Ellen Rominger would ever speak of his mother (possibly Sophia) or who may of actually been his father I received the following information in June of 99 from a member of the rootsweb community: "In 1850 Census, a Rachel Parks 65 and Sophie Parks were living together in Rockingham County, NC. If Sophie was a daughter of Rachel she would have been 47 when sophie was born. Most likely Sophie was a granddaughter. When Rachel Died Sophie went to the nearest big city, Winston- Salem, to find work and for what ever reason was left with a child. " I had my father check the census records of Rockingham County, NC. and found that Sophia was indeed listed as being 18 and Rachel was listed as being 65. No Children were listed in this census. In the 1860 census of Rockingham County, NC. - Rachel is listed as being 70 and Sophia as being 35. Rachel aged only 5 years in a ten year span and Sophia aged an extra 7 years. There are two children added in the 1860 census. Elizabeth age 10 and Alexander age 2. No man or father of these two children is listed. I am looking for info on: Rachel Parks b appr.(1785-1790) d appr. 1860 Sophia Parks b appr. 1832 and whomever may have been her mother Elizabeth Parks b 1850 Alexander Parks b. 1858 James Monroe Parks b 1861 If anyone has any information, or these names and birthdates coincide with somone in your family please help me solve this mystery. (Rockingham County, NC area) Thank you Brian Parks
