Their children's children became known as Parks. Cyrenius was my gggg grandfather. Arnold Weirmeir

I have been finding a huge amount of information on the internet on my mother's side of the family, and so have not had time to explore the Parks line in my family much in the last few months. However, I read all the postings, and as I find a lull in the other family line, I will continue my work on the Parks tree. My Parks line is mostly from Wisconsin, as I haven't been able to trace them back farther than that. Family information tells us that our Parks family line is mostly from England, but that there may be some French and possibly some Indian in our line. This is what I have so far: 1. WILLIAM R. PARKS: b. Nov 30, 1824, d. Feb 26, 1868 married Esther F. MOREY (or Morrey), b. April 24, 1824 2. LEWIS J. PARKS, b. Oct. 18, 1850, in Woodworth, Kenosha County, Wisc., d. Seeking info on parents of Moses Parks b.1793 NC d.1868 Fayette Co.,TN. Moses arrived in Fayette Co.,Tennessee in 1829. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kay Hudson
Cousin Wade: Always nice to meet another cousin. First, no proof has ever been found regarding the wife of Thomas Parks I of Ballengers Mountain who died in Albemarle Co. Va. She probably died before he made his will. We have documents to prove that Charity Parks married Richard Chandler. She was the great grand daughter of Thomas Parks I. If you got the web site I just posted you can follow the trail from Thomas Parks I, Thomas II, Thomas III to his daughter Charity. Now, I'm sending a cc of this message to Gayle Keough, a direct proven descendant of Charity. Gayle is a very reliable researcher and I just know (from memory) that Richard and Charity had s son, Parks Chandler. Re: Elizabeth Parks who married Christopher Hutchings. I see no direct line connection to the above but I do have a lot of data on this family. No time to look right now but there are several land deals and wills in my web site for this family. Check it out and get back to me with specific questions....Ok? And good luck, DL Wade Lovelace wrote: > Hi List, > > I have two Parks lines. OK...here's my puzzle...I'm looking for the siblings and parents of Albert Parks. He was born around 1823, probably in TN. He married Maria Nancy Eades around 1850. Maria was born about 1829 in Hardin Co., TN. There is quite a bit known about her family. I first found Albert and Maria in the 1850 AR census (Wiley's Cove, Searcy Co.), where Albert was living with Maria and her brother, Jacob. This census lists Albert as a tinker from KY...the only reference I have of his being from KY. By the 1860 census, Maria and Albert were married weren living in Griffin Township, Conway Co. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters: Jacob H. Parks, born abt 1852, married Sarah from MO, born abt 1848; John E. Parks, born 1854, died 1891 in Formosa, Van Buren Co., AR.--married Mary Frances Hammet, born 1849 in Carroll Co., TN, died 1903 in Formosa, Van Buren Co., AR. --married Aug 15, 1869; Albert Daniel Lafayette Parks, born 1856 married Mary from AR--he went by Daniel and ended up in OK; Susan E. Parks (born about 1858) can't be found after the 1870 census; Laura Jane Parks (born about 1860) married John C. Foster and lived out the rest of her life in Big Flat, Baxter County, AR; The second wife of Albert was Mary P. Martin, born in TN 1843, and died September 10, 1907 in Dike, TX. They were married January 25, 1866. Apparently Maria died first, then Albert remarried. Except for one of the daughters the children were sent off after Albert died. I don't recognize the names of the people they were living with. I found them scattered throughout Arkansas in the 1870 census. In 1880, the 3 brothers were in a census in Van Buren Co., AR., Griggs Twp. (pg. 466) all near each other, married and with young children. John E. Parks and Mary Frances Hammett (Allen Fields Hammett and Gillian Angeline (Angie) Traywick) had 7 children. Since he died in 1891, I would like to know who raised the younger ones...one of the older brothers? Mary E., (born 1872) married James Westly Westerman and lived in a log cabin; Charles H. (born 1873) was a farmer and married Nellie Barnes; Monford Rudolph (born 1876) became a physician, married Alice Mackey, who died--he then married Rosa M. Rhoades; John Franklin (born 1879) married Cumina Ethel Harris--after she died he moved to Missouri and had a second family up there--anyone looking for a Parks in the 1900's in MO?; Angie (born about 1880) died as a teenager; George Walter, my grandfather, (born 1888) married Ida Mae Fellers--he was a lawyer; Rebecca Jane (born 1890) married George Washington Lee An elderly uncle said that Albert was running from the law and didn't want to be found. Family history says that Albert was ambushed during the time of the reconstruction. I would like to find Albert's parents. Thanks for any help at all! Nancy Parks Phoenix, AZ
It's been interesting to get all the Parks emails today!I decided to post my Parks line again. I haven't done it since 1998, so here it is.: 1. Sir Robert Parke was born in 1580, at Preston England. He sailed to America on the "Arabela" with 76 passengers and landed in Boston, Mass., March 30, 1630. Sir Robert Parke was a man of some means. He did not come to America through dire necessity or to better his condition, but rather a desire to have more religious liberty. He brought one son, Thomas, with him. His son William came to America in December 1630 and his son Samuel came about the time of his father's death. Robert married Martha Chaplin, the daughter of William Chaplin, Feb. 9, 1601, in England. She was the mother of all his children who were Martha, Robert, William, Thomas, Samuel, and Anne. To Park/e/s Chasers: In a recent note from the Wilkes County N. C. rootsweb they said the two books, "The Heritage of Wilkes Co," published by the Wilkes County Genealogical Society were out of print. I haven't belonged to the society for years but I was able to purchase both of those book in several trips down there. The first was published in 1982, the second in 1990. There are three Parks histories in the 1982 and twenty five in the 1990 book. Most are descendants of Thomas Parks who died on Ballenger's Mountain in Albemarle County Virginia in 1761. On a trial basis (time permitting!!!!) I will do lookups for Park/e/s researchers in those heritage books. Please bear with me as to time. I may get swamped. And please be aware that those printed histories are just someone's opinion like you and me. There is no, or very little documentation and should be used as hints only. First, before you send a query please take a gander at my web page. It is unique in that every person there is a proven descendant of the above Thomas Parks of Virginia. Most of the people are descendants of John and Thomas Parks, brothers, and sons of the elder Thomas. You will find wills, estate settlements, b, m & d. certificates. photos of grave markers, photos of people and many other documents designating proof. . http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/1498 Second, please look over this page carefully. This is a page designating misinformation which has been circulated on the internet and in various other genealogical circles. In thirty years of searching this information is simply not true or there is no proof.. Save yourself some heartaches and do not believe a word of it. There are simply no records of proof.. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9942/parksmistakes.html Good luck and happy searching DL

Hi List, I have two Parks lines. I descend from Thomas Parks, who married a Miss White, a Miss Hornbuckle and Anne Brockman. I am trying to find information on the given name of the first wife who was mother to my ancestor William Parks (1771 - 1815) who married Nancy Dillard. I also descend from Elizabeth Parks (1725 - 1803) who was the daughter of Thomas Parkes. Elizabeth was married to Christopher Hutchings. I was interested in whether anyone knew the name of Thomas' wife. I was also interested in a descendant of this Thomas Parkes name Parks Chandler who was the second husband of my great grandmother Manda A. Nixon Loveless. They had one daughter who died when she was 16. My father was named Parks after this Parks Chandler. I am also interested in my wife's ancestor Martha Parke who married Isaac Wheeler. She was the daughter of Thomas Parke and Dorothy Thompson. I don't know if this line ever became Parks, but it interesting the similiarity of the names. Thank You in advance for any help. Wade T. Lovelace

Hi: Research on the following Park(s) lines has been successful this past year but there are areas that need work: A. Joseph (2) PARK, b Ireland, came to PA, ca 1720, with his parents Arthur (1) and Mary PARK(e) of Chester Co., PA. Migrated to NC/SC, by mid-1700's. Owned land in the Fairforest area of (now) SC. Looking for: 1) The correct identity of Joseph's wife, said to be Alice Culbertson, but her name is Agnes/Anne in Lancaster/Chester Co., PA deeds. 2) Joseph Park's will. He was dec'd by 1779. Left a will mentioned in son John's own will. Joseph's will possibly in NC, but likely SC. Have not found it in published abstracts or court minutes. 3) Looking for descendants of his sons Joseph (3) Park, Jr., John (3) Park, and George (3) Park to trade information. Families in (now) Union Co., SC, during and after the RW. B. Arthur (3) PARK(s), believed to be the son of Joseph (2) above. In SC records, found with known sons of Joseph. Looking for: 1) Arthur's marriage record abt 1763, to Rebecca CULBERTSON, probably in PA, but possibly in NC or SC. C. Andrew (4) PARK, b 18 May 1771; d Hamilton Co., OH, 2 Jun 1814, son of Arthur above. He MAY have married Agnes CULBERTSON, first cousin, and dau. of Col. Robert CULBERTSON of Shippensburg, PA, and Franklin Co., OH. If so, he lived in Hamilton Co., OH, then in Franklin Co., OH, and prob. returned to Hamilton Co., not long before his death. Looking for: 1) Descendants of Andrew (4)and Agnes PARK. Perhaps had son Arthur and a daughter Nancy of Franklin Co., PA. Judy Tooman Colorado Springs, CO
Nathan E. PARKS was born 1846 in McHenry Co., IL. About 1871-2, he married a lady by name of Susan who was born in England in 1843. They were the parents of five children, four of which I have been able to identify. George L. born 1873 in Illinois, Loyd was born 1878 in Illinois, Edson born 1880 in Texas, Ernest born 1883 in Wisconsin. Nathan was a Methodist minister and obviously traveled a lot! He and his family were in Chicago, Cook co., IL in 1900. Who was the other child? George married Elva about 1870 and was the father of Benson, born 1897 in Indiana, and Moses, born 1899 in Indiana. He was living next to the Nathan PARKS household in the 1900 census, Chicago, Cook Co., IL. Does anyone connect to this family?? Sandra Tennyson [email protected]
Peter Glick PARKS was born in 1807 to John PARKS, in Bennington Co., Vermont. About 1825, he married Charlotte LAMB in Broome Co., New York. They were the parents of 12 children. Janette, Jerome, Jane, Lozetta, Lucinda and Minerva were born in New York. The family then moved to Shiawassee co., Michigan for a short time. James was born there. By 1840, the family was in DuPage co., IL where Oscar Oren was born. Then the family moved to McHenry Co., IL where Morris, Aurilla, Nathan and Peter were born. I have a complete line for Jane, my 2-great grandmother. However, would like to flesh out the rest of the family. Peter PARKS died in 1891 in Lamar, Barton Co., Missouri. Several of his sons moved to Missouri and Kansas. Where did the rest go? Sandra Tennyson [email protected]

My roadblock is... George Parks b abt 1824-1826 in TN wife Catherine b abt 1824-1830 children John b. abt 1848 Sarah b July 1850 James b. abt 1852 Edward b. abt 1854 William b. abt 1856 Samuel b. abt 1858 They appear in Hamilton County, TN in 1850. In 1860 they appear in neighboring Bradley County. Sarah was said to have been married in neighboring Polk County. It seems that son John appears in the 1880 Polk County (2nd Civil District) census with wife Lizzie and sons Samuel, John, George, and Dick. I would really like to discover the parents of George and Catherine. Francesca [email protected]
