    1. Re: [PARKS] Descendants of Moses Parks
    2. Jennifer Davidson
    3. My brick wall with Parks in Pennsylvania: Thomas Jefferson Parks, b. 8 Oct 1851 m. Annie Bare (Baer?) b. 26 Jul 1851. Both lived and died in Western Pennsylvania. I think they tie in somehow to the descendants of the famed John Parks (b. 1733) and Isabella Galbraith (b. 1747) m. 18 Feb 1759, also in PA. Letters we have received from historians in that family tie us into John and Isabella's grandson John, but the dates don't fit. Children of Thomas Jefferson Parks and Annie Bare: James LeRoy (my ggfather) Frank Everell, John, Ralph Roscoe, Chester Lloyd, Edward William, Fred Joseph, Charles Kenneth. Any one out there a descendant of one of those other 7 Parks sons?? I have LOTS of information on the descendants of John Parks and Isabella Galbraith, even though I have yet to definitively tie my line into theirs. So even if you can't help me with my brick wall, if you recognize John and Isabella I'll be glad to give you all I have. You may also recognize one of their children, Robert Parks m. Jane Bratton. They had 11 children and I have lots of stuff on them. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Jennifer

    2. I may have posted this before, but since you are having a Roll Call, I thought I would post again. I am a gr gr granddaughter of Moses Park, Jr., born 1780, in Rowan County, NC, died 1864 in Marshall County, TN. I have seen a small book at our library and also been told about it. It is "Moses Park" by Clara Cammack Park. It is out of print I believe, and I would love to find a copy of one that someone would be willing to part with. Anyone out there with an extra copy? I would pay fair value. Joyce Park Riggs, Dallas, TX

His grandfather was Samuel PARK, who lived in the NY Hudson river valley and served in the 159th NY during the Civil War. Sam's GG- or G-father was also a Samuel PARK who was said to have fought in the Revolutionary War. Alexander married an Alcott from the famous literary family in about 1898 in Hudson, NY. Anybody have a match??? Dick Parks

    1. [PARKS] Parks Family, ME and WI
    2. Re: Parks Roll Call, here is my information. As you will see, it is mostly in the NE area and not South or Mid-West where most of the queries seem to be located. Anyone have any Parks' back here in the Northeast? My PARKS family is mentioned earliest (that I can find) in the Vital Records and in the History of Parsonsfield, ME. (York Co.) as follows: Record of the Family of Joseph Parks and Lydia his wife. He was b. at Portsmouth March 30th, 1758. (I think this must be Portsmouth, NH, but can find no record here.) He d. 28 July 1817. She was b. at Saco, (ME) March 12, 1765. and d. 20 Feb 1834. (I have her maiden name as Kennison). They have the following children: Polly - b. in Greenland 23 June 1781. D. Parsonsfield 20 Sep 1800. Thomas Palmer b. in "Do" (ditto) John, b. in Limerick 3 Aug 1785, d. 4 Oct 1805 at sea. Joseph b. in "do" 30 May 1787, d. 10 March 1802. Betsy, b. in Limerick 12 Oct 1789 Eunice, b. in "do" 7 July 1791, d. 14 Oct 1758 Eliphalet R. b. in Newfield 3 June 1793, d. 28 July 1861 Lydia, b. in Parsonsfield, 9 June 1795, d. 1 Aug 1872 Richard H. b. "do" 15 Dec 1797 Asa, b. "do" 13 Feb 1799 Polly, b. "do" 5 June 1802 Deborah, b. "do" 16 Aug 1805 The History of Parsonsfield says "it is thought this family originally came from Ireland", but does not say whether they mean Joseph's parents as the original immigrants or not. Richard H. PARKS m. Margaret THOMPSON, b. 1 May 1799, Parsonsfield, ME He was a shoemaker, and he and his family resided for a time in Somersworth, NH (1850 census) His son Joseph J. PARKS , b. 1831 in Parsonsfield m. Hannah Burbank WADSWORTH, b. Hiram, ME 20 Mar 1833, d. So. Swansea, MA 30 Jan 1912. He d. 22 Feb 1892 in Fall River, MA His son Fred Hoyt PARKS, b. 1856 in Wayne, WI, d. 22 Oct 1918 in E. Providence, RI. He m. Ann Frances ANDREWS, b. 7 Dec 1857, Myricks, MA and d. 22 April 1936 in Lakewood, RI Their daughter, Mildred Wadsworth PARKS, was my grandmother. She was b. 4 Mar 1889 in Fall River, MA and d. 13 Dec. 1970 in Providence, RI. She married Frank L. Fowler. There are two questions I am most interested in solving right now,. There will probably be others. 1) What were the origins of this family in this country? (I don't presently see any connection to New Brunswick or the Easter Townships, although I have many through my Grandfather Frank Fowler, above.) 2) I haven't yet been able to document my gr. grandfather Fred's birth in WI (except death certificate), nor do I know why they might have been there, nor how long they stayed or where they settled when they returned to NE. I think MA, but not sure. It was only serendipity that I found this much information; but the family seems rather isolated from other PARKS connections, which I find strange since there seems to be so many of them. So, if any of you have these people on your tree or in your database, I would be very grateful for any clues or information you can add. Again, thanks for responding to my roll call message. Leslie, Rye, NH
