    3. My GGgrandfather was Peter G. Parks, born 28 Dec 1807. His son, Oscar Oren Parks born 8 Aug 1840. His son, Charles Oren Parks, born 29 Nov 1887 in Lamar, Missouri. My grandfather. I believe Charles had brother name of Wayne born 27 Oct 1896 in Lamar, Missouri, and moved later on to somewhere in Texas. This is as far back as I have been able to trace so far, as I am oldest living descendant (far as I can determine). Ring any bells?? Have more names if would help. Dale Hughes

Their children were Smith Jr., Mary, Eunice, John, Ezra, Joseph, Jonathan, Daniel, Lucy, and Reuben******. I am thru Reuben. Reuben Park md Elizabeth Ford, Their son Nelson Reuben Park md Eliabeth West and they moved to DeKalb Co IL, Nelson's daughter Avis Adella Park md 1st Dewitt Plank 2nd John David LInhart, My question is this- According to Park Society family group sheets 6T1393 Reuben died in 1856 Miamisburg OH. He must have left Elizabeth Ford because she is living with her son Larmon in 1850 Erie Co NY Census town of Evans, I've checked the 1850 Ohio census especially Trumbull Co and couldn't find him. In the book Past and PResent of DeKalb Co IL it states "Reuben Parke was born Jun 10 1772 and died in Indiana at the advanced age of about ninety years." Does anyone know if there was a divorce, where he is in 1850 census and did he died Miamisburg OH 1856 or Indiana 1862????

My great grandfather James Wilbur Parks was a brother to Moses Boston Parks. Moses Boston Parks was not a Jr. as far as I know of. Their father Moses Parks was a Jr. His father was Moses Parks Sr. Moses Boston was born 18 Sep 1844 is what I have for his birth however the tombstone only says 1845, and died on 27 Mar 1937 and is buried in the Gravity, Taylor Co. Iowa cemetery there. I have a copy of his and Mahala Dixon's marriage record. They were married 17 Sep 1865, in Taylor Co.Iowa. I have the same children as you do. Dora Etta Parks was born according to her tombstone 2 Oct 1866 and died 28 Jan 1958 and is buried in the Gravity Taylor Co. Iowa cemetery. Her first husband Alfred Qualls died and she married 2ond to S. O. Babcock. As to the other two children I can not verify their dates. I was in touch with this L.A. PARKS years ago so I don't know what has happened to him. Would love to hear from you.

    2. This is in response to Dale Hughes posting of Peter Glick Parks. Peter was the borther of my ancestor Silas Leonard Parks born 1801 in Arlington Vermont to John Parks and Desiah Galusha. There was also a brother Louden, but I have no information on him. Their father was James Park, married to Mary Barnes in CT Silas moved to MI eventually and was a pioneer there. He ran away at the age of 9 to be a drummer boy in the war of 1812. He married a Canadian Betsie Elizabeth Brown and they raised 12 children in Shiawasee, MI. One of the older ones, Peter Parks was stolen by an Indian squaw, schooled in Canada and raised as an Indian. My grandmother Elizabeth Parks was born to Elon Galusha Parks. The Parks children they had where: William Parks, John Parks, Peter Parks, Elon Galusha Parks b.1849, Anson, Albert, Leusinda, Amanda Parks Decker, Mary Parks Albaugh, Emma Parks Flower, And zHeneritta Parks Thompson. Silas died 4-8-1876 in Burton, MI. Betsie died 2-1858. I am in touch with another descendant of Peter Glick Parks who has considerable information.. She lives in Blue Grass, IA. If you would like her e-mail please let me know, Dale Regards, Karen Ingram

    3. I am interested in learning more about the family of Charles Parkes. He is found in Rowan County, NC, in the late 1700s. He was born about 1741 in Hunterdon, New Jersey and died 1818 in Madison County, KY. He married 1766 in Hunterdon, NJ to a Catherine Pew Smith. I have the following children and dates listed but have no way of knowing if these dates are correct: Charles b. 1776 d. 1850 Rowan Sarah b. 1776 d. 1818 KY James b. 1774 Hunterdon, NJ, d. date unknown Madison Co., KY Martha b. 1774 Hunterdon, NJ Nathan b. 2-21-1778 Rowan Co., and died 3-29-1814 Estill County, KY Betsy b. 1778 Rowan Co., NC Charles Jr., 1787 Rowan, d: 1850 Bartholomew C., Ind Margaret (Peggy) Parke b: 1-24-1785 in Rowan, d: 4-3-1854 St. Louis, MO Jonah b. He is thought to be one of three sons of Nathan Parke of Rowan County. There are brothers Joseph and Richard. He is living next to William Kinney, and William Badgett This family seems to have migrated from Hunterdon, NJ to Rowan Co., NC and then on to Madison, KY. My information is coming from the LDS site and I see some problems with the dates but thought it would be a good place to start. I am reasonably certain that John William Parks was my great grandfather but I need to find a way to verify that. Dou you know any living descendants of these that would have any information or know where I might find a family bible that would show a marriage for him?? I think he may have married twice but I'm not positive... Thank you for answering and I do hope it turns out we are cousins...
