Hello, Dont know if someone has already posted this, but here it is... Thanks Pat >>>>>>>>> Dawes Final Rolls The Dawes Commission was organized in 1893 to accept applications for tribal enrollment between 1899 and 1907 (some were added as late as 1914), mostly from Indians who resided in the Indian Territory which later became the State of Oklahoma. Tribal membership entitled qualified individuals to land allotments from the U.S. Government. These enrollment records were eventually published as the Dawes Commision, also known as The Five Civilized Tribes, which consisted of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chikasaw, Crow, Creek and Seminole Tribes. 1 Page Number Surname Given Name Age Gender Blood Census card number Tribe # 1 8617 291 Parks Alberta 21 F 1-4 3539 Cherokees by Blood 1 13027 318 Parks Alexander B. 12 M 1-16 5441 Cherokees by Blood 1 4759 467 Parks Alfred E. 1 M 1-64 1171 Minor Cherokees by Blood 1 13605 321 Parks Amanda 11 F 1-64 5666 Cherokees by Blood 1 26588 399 Parks Annie 28 F 1-4 4244 Cherokees by Blood 1 544 475 Parks Bass 76 M 197 Cherokee Freedmen 1 568 441 Parks Bertha E. 1 F 1-8 354 Minor Cherokees by Blood 1 2406 453 Parks Byron D. 4 M 1-32 2254 Minor Cherokees by Blood 1 4758 467 Parks Cara M. 3 F 1-64 1171 Minor Cherokees by Blood 1 9862 561 Parks Chaney 8 mo. i have been reading the postings to this list for a couple of months and at the same time have started to look at my own line on my fathers side. It seems the vast majority of postings are u.s.a. based (probably something to do with the population) It could be that there is a link somewhere if i manage to get back a few generations my grandfather was Robert Andrew Park b:21.07.1886 d:05.05.1948 m:Elsie Elizabeth Caroline Best b:06.04.1888 d:01.09.1969 His brothers; Charles Thomas Park b: ?.?.1878 hobart, tasmania d:16.02.1913 m:Mabel Best b:18.08.1880 d:30.01.1914 Henry Semple Park b: ?.?.1884 m:Emily Best b:19.07.1886 d:06.07.1983 William Park Richard Park George Park His sister; Nellie Park m:Joe Jarvis It was either a very small town or the Best girls where a bit special! it seems that all the above came from tasmania and my grandfather and some if not all moved to western australia. I know that the tasmanian government holds indexes to births/deaths/marriages and this would be my next step to finding further information just maybe, someone out there may have some info that is relevant Other lines in my tree have been researched and published. One goes back to John & Mary Small (first fleeters) 'The Small Family In Australia 1788-1988' pub. by John & Mary Small Descendants Association ISBN no: 0 7316 1814 9 needless to say it is rather a large book, i counted over 1300 different surnames up to the letter H before i gave up Another line goes back to Lewis Wiseman who moved from Scotland to Australia in 1852. This tree is published in; 'Cousins and Others' pub. by Norma J.Parker ISBN No: 0 6646 26659 4 There is some data on the Wiseman line back to 1655 and i believe the author has historical notes back to 1200/1300 a.d. This may be of use to someone out there may the list keep growing ! Neville Park
Ken, According to my information, William R. Parks was the first born. A couple years ago, someone on the net told me this Parks line may have moved to TX for awhile, back to TN then back to TX. Maybe someone else will provide a clue. Parks Jerry, I will certainly keep you and your line in mind as I dig into my early Parks line. James and William are both names in my family, not uncommon names, granted, but names that don't appear in some other TN Parks lines I'm looking at. Looks like William R. Parks lived the longest of his siblings. Don't know about TX records, but if he died as late as 1910 or later, his death certificate may be available and might give his parents' names and state of birth. Worth a shot anyway, and any little clue helps. If all of James P. Parks's children were born in TX, then he would have moved from TN before 1832. Do you know if William R. Parks was the first born? Many of the 1820 TN census records were destroyed in a fire, so no 1820 records are available for Roane & Monroe Cos., where my folks were. The only James Parks I see in the remaining 1820 census records is: James Parks Williamson Co. TN 100100-00100 Williamson Co. is just SW of Nashville This James had one son under 16-James was between 16-26, wife was 16-26. He would be about your James P.'s age, but the son would have been born before 1820. The Parks family I'm looking at in Roane Co. 1830 census is this: Parks, Jacob 00101-201010001 Parks, James 00001-0001 Parks, William 02101001-00222001 There were four other Parks households in Roane Co. then, but these three lived near each other and south of the TN River, where most of my family was. The others may well be related, but these almost certainly are, and are probably William the father and sons Jacob and James. My connection to them is still unclear, but my suspicion is that my ggg grandfather, Henry Parks may be listed with his family under William's household. Henry died in 1838 and his widow remarried, but Jacob Parks lived nearby-two households away in the 1850 Monroe Co. census. I lose track of James after the 1830 census, however, so there is a possiblility that he could be your James who moved to TX. Pretty sketchy right now, but I've been at this only about a year now, and it's taken me most of that to get back this far. As I said, I'll definitely keep you in mind and hope you'll do the same.--Ken

Ken I have no other information on James P. In fact, I have hit the "brick wall" and can find nothing on that line. I do know at some point they moved to Gonzales County Texas and I think James D. Parks and probably some or all of his siblings as well may have been born in Gonzales County but haven't been able to prove it yet. Please keep me on your mailing list if you run across anything interesting. I am seeking information about a James and Polly Parks family which lived in Kentucky (Bourbon County?) in the late 1700's. Daughter Elizabeth (b. 1763?) married Thomas Gibson. There was also a son named James. Supposedly the family came from Maryland. Thanks!
I am looking for any information on the following: James P. Parks born 27 Oct 1800 (probably TN) died 8 Feb 1883 Married Mary M. Caldwell -born 9 Dec 1809 -died 8 Mar 1884 Children: William R. Parks born 6 Jan 1832- died after 1900 Spouse Harriet M. Parks James D. Parks -b. 1 Sep 1834 -d. Oct 1888- Gonzales Co. TX Spouse Sarah A. Foster -married 8 Feb 1856 Darah E. Parks b. 4 Apr 1839 - d. 5 may 1890 Carlson B. Parks b. 24 Oct 1849 - d. 21 Aug 1883 Mary A. Parks b. 22 Jun 1859 - d. 31 Jul 1878 This family migrated from TN to Gonzales Co. Texas and I do have the children with dates for James D. Parks if anyone is interested. Jerry Parks [email protected]
Steve, Judy, Carolyn and list- Here's what I have on the Parks in Beaver County...I do suspect they all tie in together somehow, I just haven't been able to sort them out. Robert PARKS Beaver Cty Will, written 19 May 1803, probated 25 August 1813 mentions his brother SAMUEL PARKS, son-in-law William HARSHE, md to daughter MARY, mentions William Harshe's children, Robert, Mary and William and John. Mentions his own sons David and John. Mentions his wife, but does not give her name. William Harshe is also listed as executor. 1801- Allegheny County, deed between William Harshe and his wife Mary, to Thomas Parks of Allegheny. Land owned by Mathias Hooks in 1795. September 1796, court appoint Robert Vance to be guardian of James, son of John, late of Moon Twp, decd, during his minority. Sept 1803, James Boyd, a minor over 14, petitions for Robert Vance to be his guardian. I believe this James marries Mary 'Polly' Boyd, who is living with children of James Parks in 1860. June 26, 1824, on peition of James Park et al, heirs of John Park, decd., who died March 19, 1809, leaving a widow Mary (since decd.) and six children, to wit: Clara, wife of Charles L. Armstrong, James; Margaret; Jane; Robert; and John (a minor and ward of Neville B. Craig); and seized of seven outlots in the Reserve Tract now in Ross Twp. 1820 Greene, Beaver, PA census- lists Thomas Parks, nearby neighbors are Thomas Harshe and William Harshe. Thomas is listed with one male, 70-80, and one male 30-40, one female 30-40. 1830 Hanover, Beaver, PA census- lists Thomas Parks one male, 40-50, one male 20-30 (I suspect this to be James Park) one male child between 10-15, and one male child btwn 5 and 10. There is one female between 20-30, one female between 10-15, and one female under 5. 1840 Green, Beaver, PA census James Park listed, nearby neighbors are James Boid, William Harshe. 1850 Hanover, Beaver, PA lists James and Sarah Parks, age 51, with children Mary,16, Margaret, 14, William 12, and Thomas 9. A 71 year old John Mathews is also living with them. 70 year old James Boyd and 60 year old Mary Boyd are living in Greene, Beaver, PA. 1847, Hanover, Beaver, PA deed of James and Sarah Park to John Swaney. 1845 Green, Beaver, PA deed of Thomas and Isabella Swaney to James Park. 5 April 1796- deed of sale from Mathias Hook, Moon, Allegheny, PA to Thomas Parks of Washington Cty, land in Mill Creek. Mentions land being near William Harsh Spring 1814 company payroll, Thomas Parks Capt. Robert Imbrie Co 1, Battln 26 A remark on the payroll says that this payroll embraces 9 days on march home, being a distance of 135 miles. 1850 Hanover, Beaver, PA- lists 33 year old James Harshe, wife Charlotte son John, also 70 year old John Harshee, wife Mary with Robert, age 25, Jane,22, and Lavina, 19. A 37 year old Malinda Parks is living with the family of Bazel Swearingen (age 68), wife Sarah (69). Also in this household is an 8 year old Sarah Harshee and a six year old Elizabeth Harshe. The 1863 will of Mary Boyd mentions her niece Margaret Park, and her nephew William Park. This will, from Greene, Beaver, PA was probated 5 October 1865. In the 1860 census, Margaret, William and Mary, children of James and Sarah Parks, are living with Polly Boyd age 70. I am sure this is Mary Boyd. The William Park mentioned is my direct line. He was born 8 May, 1837 in Hookstown, Beaver, PA and served in the Civil War. His brother, Thomas, also served in the Civil War. 6 April 1830, deed of Thomas Park to James Park for the sum of one dollar, Beaver, PA (some of the same land as listed in above deeds) Thomas wife, Mary signs deed. 1845 will of William Harshe has James Park as a witness. William harshe was born 1768. His wife Mary Park, born 1775, died 26 June 1849, buried in Mill Creek, PA 1845 deed Thomas and Isabella Swaney of Green, Beaver PA to James Parks of Greene. 1847 deed between James and Sarah Parks of Hanover, Beaver, PA to John Swaney. Tax lists of 1830's show Thomas and James Parks in Greene, Beaver PA. Thanks for any help- Lynn
