Thank you for writing..I am only searching in Fulton County as I know where they all were..I am trying to find if some of my living cousins might be on the list.. I have seen your posts and knew you were having a hard time finding your Parks family..and as far as I know, none of my my Dad's family was ever out of Fulton Co. They moved there from NJ in 1849 and most are still around that area, that is, except for my parents who moved to Calif. in 1951.. I really remember very little about Illinois, but have found about 50 of the cousins in my Mom's family so now I have my connection back.. Wishing you luck.. Roxanne http://community.webtv.net/garretts2/RoxannesHomeontheWeb
Dear Roxanne, My Grand Father WILLIAM LEE PARKS was in Richland and Edwards Counties from about 1866 to 1886. After that he moved to Utah. He was an only child and was born in Sparta, White, Tennessee in 1859. His fathers name was JAMES PARKS. That is all I know about him. I have been searching for 35 years and have not been able to find him, or at least connect him up with my G Grand Mother who was SARAH CAROLINE ARMSTRONG/DUNIGAN. She too was born in Tennessee and moved to Utah in 1887, after spending several years in Illinois. Sorry I can't be of help to you. Good luck. If I can ever help you in any way, please let me know. Best Wishes, Chad Parks
Anyone else researching Parks in Fulton Co., Illinois? Looking for my cousins from that area.. Roxanne Parks Garrett Klamath Falls, Oregon http://community.webtv.net/garretts2/RoxannesHomeontheWeb
Ken, I guess I'd better jump in while I can. While you're searching for James Parks keep an eye out for James D. Parks b. 1 Sep 1834 and his father James P. Parks b. 27 Oct 1800, both in TN (I think) I do have siblings and spouses for both. Thanks ever so much Jerry Parks [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Ken Parks [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, March 06, 2000 1:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PARKS] Re: James Parks-Sparta, White Co. If I didn't miss someone, these were the only PARK/PARKER/PARKES/PARKS I could find in White Co. in 1860. Do you have an approx. dob for your James? Would he have been old/young enough to have fought in the Civil War? Do you have dob for your grandfather William Lee, and do you know for sure if he was born in White County? Do you have a death certificate for William Lee? If he died in the late 1900's on, his parents' names and place of birth might be on his death ceritficate. Looks like from the family names the John Parks household in 1860 White Co. TN might be your bunch, but if you've already ruled them out, we might look at a James Parks in early 1800's Roane Co. TN whose father was named William Parks. Don't mean to pepper you with questions, just thought there might be a Roane Co. connection or you may have overlooked this White Co. Parks family. Good luck--Ken Parks

Chad, You have to remember the farther back you go, the younger people got married. I have a marriage of a 16 yr old girl to a 22 yr old guy in 1881. Hi Susan, I'm sorry that I am unable to help you on the Parks line, as I have, after about 35 years, come up with nothing on my Fathers line. On one line I go back to the early fifteen hundreds, and on two other lines back to the early sixteen hundreds, but the Parks line -----, all I know about my great grandfather is that his name was JAMES PARKS and that he was in Sparta, White, Tennessee in about 1863. My Grand father, WILLIAM LEE PARKS was born in that same place, but I cannot find any kind of a link between my great grand mother SARAH CAROLINE ARMSTRONG/DUNIGAN and James. I doubt very much if they were ever married, as she had just turned 15 when my Grand father was born. If I should run across any information on SARAH KATE PARK, I will let you know. Best wishes, Chad

She married John Cornell, born July 6, 1778 in Nj and died September 29, 1860 in Cow Creek, WV. Their children are: Jane, born in 1832 and Harrion, born in 1824. Both children were born in Pleasants County, WV. There may have been more children. Any information on this family is appreciated.
