My Tylers may be from New England (CT, MA, NH) as well...The trail back ends in NC but he was in a town on the coast and he suddenly was there in 1820 ( his daughter was married in 1830) & no Tylers lived in this county before or since his death) and was called Captain and he was known to have had one ship at one time & died in Norfolk. The reason I am looking in New England is that I just found out that his grand daughter was named Virginia Mehetable Tyler and her other families did not have any Mehetable's that I have seen but when I put Mehetable Tyler on the web I just got a ton of New England references...there are a lot of them there....and Virginia M. Tyler's Daughter's son went to New England to seek his fortune and his family did very well there. His mother and father stayed in NC to their deaths....So I am thinking there were connections in the New England that made him travel north. His name was John Lawrence Baker, after his father. If you come across any clues that make you think of me I would be very thankful.. Best, A.
