This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: vze2qjg5 Surnames: Parker, Stilwell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/15203/mb.ashx Message Board Post: (Reposted from Stilwell board) Looking at http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/person.aspx?pid=174077382 (Can't find who posted it or a place to comment on it) In 1820, Mary Ann would have been 8. There are two Stil(l)wells listed in Campbell Cty in 1820. Joseph Jr and Joseph Sr (Father/Son?). Only Joseph Jr. has a female child under the age of 10. Ergo that's a likely Father/Daughter match. Initial tree entry claims that Stilwells lived on a plantation with slaves. "Her family lived on a plantation (large orchards)" and "Family kept slaves". "The Campbell County Tax List & Census Page" (*http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kycampbe/censusindex.htm) mentions a Stil(l)well for the first time in 1809 and does not mention owned slaves. FYI - In 1880 Census Mary Anns fathers birthplace is listed as New Jersey. (so we are talking about a Stilwell who moved from New Jersey (initially) to Kentucky in the 1808/9 timeframe, got married and had Mary Ann.) Of course I want more info on this, but post to question the original tree entry and it's source(s). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
