Hello Parker list, I am going through old bits of information and I came across something that confuses me. In The History of Fort No. 4, Charlestown, New Hampshire, Saunderson makes a notation that the death date on Isaac Parker Jr's gravestone is in error. This is also stated to me in emails from other list members. The reasoning being that it is noted as April 1758 and yet Isaac Parker Jr held office in 1759 and apparently he had a child with his second wife, Mehitable, in 1760. Certainly a gravestone that was "planted" many years after the actual date could be in error, but we have no idea when this marker was placed. The one thing that jumps out at me is that Isaac Jr had a son named Isaac - he would have been old enough to hold that office and have a child in 1760, as he would have been aged 29 and 30 respectively. So is it possible that the third Isaac Parker, son of Isaac Jr and Mary, is actually the one who married Mehitable and had 3 children (all named the same as 3 of his siblings)? I realize that naming patterns were different, but I have found very few families that named children the same as a sibling (unless that sibling was deceased). In other words, in this case there would be 2 Sarahs only 10 years apart in age. I do not have any information on most of Isaac Jr and Mary (?) children. Maybe that would clarify this for me. But I would like to hear evidence to prove that this was Isaac Jr and not the third Isaac Parker. I am still researching, but my sources are rather limited on this subject. Anyone able to help?
