My mother kept telling me that there was no connection that anyone in the family had been able to find over the years. But since both famiies came to TX from Alabama and settled in the same areas it seemed that there had to be a connection. It turned out my mom was correct. Her grandmother on her dad's side of the family was Wilson Ashley Parker who came to Moscow, TX prior to the Civil War with a lot of his family. Parents remained in Red Level, Covington Co., Al. He is FG#5, well documented. My mom's grandmother on her mother's side of the family came to Moscow area from Alabama. Her brothers also served in the Civil War from TX. Her father tested out in FG#16. His father is still unknown today. Others in #16, are apparently cousins, etc. but still can't find that common ancestor. His father was apparently from N.C. or S.C. and moved into Alabama! . I am so grateful to the DNA testing that finally proved that my two lines were not related. It took me awhile to find a male Parker on my maternal grandmothers side who would do the test. Circumstantial evidence had convinced me and several other researchers that Charles Parker would be in the FG#11 with John Parker and Rachel Shipley as parents. This proved not to be the case however. I wish each Parker family would have one of their families do this simple swab test and get their DNA documented. It would make it much easier for all of us.
