    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: pandjparker Surnames: William Jackson Parker Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/15874.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Family Group #7 of the Parker Surname YDNA Project is one of forty different bloodline groups made up of Parker males and their families. The males are tested for YDNA, usually by Family Tree DNA labs, although some results come from other testing labs. FG#7 currently has thirty different families, all with the same bloodline or extremely similar bloodlines and the same R haplotype. The members of FG#7 exchange histories, help each other with ancestral studies, and email and fax on a regular basis about new information and research progress. Your William is not known to be connected to our Parkers, but here is what I learned about him: 1850 NC Census: Narcissa Lankford was one of eleven children in the home of Nathan and Elizabeth Lankford. Narcissa was born 1832 in Rutherford Co. NC part of which became Polk County in 1855. 1860 NC Census: Narcissa Lankford had married William Newman in 1858 in Polk Co. He was born 1818 and had five children. Narcissa and William Newman had one infant by 1860. 1870 Census: Narcissa Newman was married to William Parker before the census. Evidently the much older William Newman either died from natural causes or perhaps in the Civil War, unclear. Narcissa's son William was born Dec. 25, 1863 but for some reason was not listed with her on the 1870 census. 1880 Census: William Jackson Parker b. 1863 was in the home of Narcissa and William Parker. When he was about 30, he married a much younger woman Lene was gone before the 1920 census. It appears he never married again. The census was unclear, bur he may have been handicapped. He was shown as not working, and his wife worked on the farm in 1910. William Jackson Parker lived for some years in Spartunburg, SC where he died; he was buried in Polk Co. NC in 1952. Good luck in your research. Patricia Ross Parker, FG#7 researcher Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
