Author: whalmi Surnames: Parker Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.parker/15233.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Likely from Lancashire county if he was in the textile industry: that was where most of that industry was based (though silk was mostly in London's east-end and tweed came mainly from Scotland). I have a Franklin born in later decades whose brother Percy went to America leaving his daughter behind when he returned England for the rest of his life. The "Bishop" name may be related to "Bishop Norton" (Lincolnshire) or a similarly named town. If it is a family name used as a first name then Yorkshire or northern Lincolnshire are counties where that naming style was common.
