The story I have always been told is that she was born in Cooter, MO in 1923. I knew her name to be Jo Lewis Lawrence. Her mother's name was Georgia. Her stepfather was Thomas Parker. Jo married Ralph Henry Haulum in 1946. They lived in Memphis, TN and had five children (Frances, Lydia, Julia, Paul, and Mary Ellen "Melie") I cannot find any records at all on Jo or Georgia. I don't know if this is just poor record keeping, or some huge family secret. Jo passed away in 1980. Georgia passed away in 1988. By the time I was old enough to ask questions, my grandfather wouldn't talk about it.
