BUT you need to have patience about your brother's paternal YDNA test! Sooner or later, others will test, their data will turn out to match the brothers's, and gradually the family line will emerge. And when it does, the pay off will be very helpful. You money is not being wasted. I have not done mt-DNA, but the messages from those who HAVE indicate that it was moderately/mildly helpful. The greatest help came when then signed up for Family Finder. I do know that, since YDNA testing and mt-DNA testing use completely different sets of labels, haplogroups, and processes, they are not interactive. That is, a YDNA result will not compare directly to a mt-DNA test, or vice versa, but both may contribute to the overall picture. However, you are very wise to test either way or both ways if possible, since there are so many Parker bloodlines represented there in Mississippi. Relying on family lore often fails to get the right answers. DNA is the best way available today. Stay with it. I was thinking of doing the MT dna to see if I could MAYBE find relatives this way. I recently had my brother's Paternal DNA tested only to find out afterwards, that he is the ONLY person of that surname to have the test done. I'd really hate to waste my money again. So, my question, has anyone related to the Pascagoula Parkers had this test performed? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am married to a Parker, not a Parker myself, but I am glad to exchange with you as a Parker researcher-by-marriage... Your information on Anderson Peyton Parker is extremely useful. However, at the current time, 2012, I still find no conclusive documentation that a Robert Parker - any Robert Parker - was the father of our Benjamin Parker. Also, even YDNA has not confirmed exactly how Benjamin was related to Jesse Parker (d. 1849 TX), William of Copiah, or even Eurydice. I like to think that they WERE related somehow, but cannot prove it. I enjoy reading - but do not accept as fact - those claims based on lore in people's online trees. Ray Fouts' work Following The Land makes it very clear that our Benjamin was not included as an heir of Robert Parker of Gates Co. NC, the man often named as his father. Given my choice between details found in foxfire lore vs. land deeds/wills, I will take land deeds/wills every time. I try to keep the father of Benjamin an open issue with other genealogists so that we continue looking. I would so like to exchange with you, and maybe you will share more of what you have found. Hope to hear from you. Patricia Ross Parker, FG#7 researcher Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. And you want to know if Elijah was a brother of Bonnie Parker's father, called variously Henry, Charles, Charlie, etc. Parker who married Emma Krause? That would make your Elijah also a son of the father of Henry,Charles,Charlie? Right? And that you are trying to confirm your ggrandmother's belief that she and Bonnie Parker were first cousins? Where did your Mavis Parker live with her parents Elijah and Margaret? Who did Mavis marry? and where? Please respond with answers to above and to confirm exactly what you want to learn. She was the daughter of Alexander Evans and Sarah Crockett Evans. She was born in Fentress County, TN. I am the great granddaughter of her younger sister Melissa Evans Campbell. My father remembered "Aunt Fet" from his childhood in Munday, TX. She went there as often as she could to visit her sister. He said she was quite a character...always insisted on doing the dishes and always left them slightly dirty. (This drove Melissa nuts). Apparently the scandal involved a divorce from Mr. Walker; I am on the trail of that right now. I would love a scan of her death certificate! In return, I can send you some info on her that was recently sent to me by Janet Walker. I will try your email listed here as a test; if you don't get it, or if it bounces, please email me (my address never changes). Guess we are cousins to some degree!
