I know where Susan was in 1870 and 1880 as I mentioned it in my message. Sorry for questioning your premises. I have been doing this genealogy thing for a long time also. However, when presented with questions on anything I put up in a tree, I welcome the inquiries. I just want to get it right, no matter who finds the info The fact that the marriage records of Josephine and Eliza mirror each other, at different times, should raise some questions in anyone's mind. As I said, the marriage records on both women show Samuel and Susan Parker as parents, the document dated one day prior, in each case, name their mother as Susan L. Carey. There has to be an explanation. These records came from Virginia marriage records and were transcribed on to Family Search. These are not my ancestors but they are my husband's through the one Parker daughter most people don't even mention, Eliza B. Parker who married John T. White and ended up living at Chesapeak! e. Whether Johanna was another sister or the entry of her name was a mistake in the 1850 Census (and I've seen many of them), I can't tell at this time. But, I will bother you no more and will go on with this alone. Thank you, however, for the Belotte name. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Parker, on 15 Jan 1853. This would fit. I know you say that Samuel Parker died in 1855, but this was not at Norfolk, but close by, I know. I found a grave for Samuel Parker, died August 10, 1851 whose grave marker says: "Aged 40 Years, Leaving a wife and three children to mourn their loss. Was for many years a merchant in this City." The grave is at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia. Perhaps Susan remarried. Josephine married in 1856 and Eliza married in 1857. This would account for the Susan L. Carey showing up as mother on their marriage bond. Georgiana married in 1851, before the Samuel mentioned above, so the name Susan Carey wouldn't apply to her marriage. I know that in 1870 and 1880, Susan is with a child and back to the name Parker. Perhaps the marriage didn't last or the Carey husband died. Would appreciate your thoughts on all this. However, either there were two Samuel Parkers or perhaps Susan was married twice. The marriage records for both Josephine B. Parker and Eliza B. Parker both show Samuel Parker and Susan L. Parker as parents of the bride. There are also marriage records on both with a day just before the wedding day that may have been for a marriage bond, both of which say Susan L. Carey are their mother. Josephine, Georgia and Eliza all have B as their middle initial which probably stands for Belotte. There are two Samuel Parkers in the Norfolk area. One of them is evident on the 1820 Census of Norfolk. I guess you are the one who says Samuel took his oath of Allegiance in 1840? Believe me, I am not arguing with you, just trying to get to the bottom of the matter. I can supply you with the marriage records which are just printouts of the record on FamilySearch.org, the Mormon website. After receiving your message, I also s! aw the marriage record for Samuel Parker and Susan Belotte. Can't figure this one out. Maybe we can correspond via regular email. I can send you my records and you can send me yours? Don't know if you're amenable to that but would love to figure this out. My email is sealyons@bellsouth.net.
