Lee, Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out for me. However, once again, it is not my Lewis Parker as mine was still living in 1850 census of Henry Co. Al and it says he was born in South Carolina as was his son Robert who married Sarah Armstrong from Edgefield Co. SC. I appreciate your unselfish efforts much more than you could know. Can you expand on the ancestors of Asahel Parker? My Parkers came to Minnesota in 1854 and settled at Parker's Lake in Plymouth, Hennepin County. Obviously Parker is a common surname, but just curious if these were maybe cousins of my line. Trying to find siblings of Rev. James Parker. My line back: Isreal Small Parker - Sarah Goodale (ME & MN) Rev. Hi Winette: Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, but I had to poke around a little. Eleanor McSwain, in 1980 concluded that Lewis Parker (father in the Family Group sheet that you posted) was a son of Richard Parker Sr. originally of Orange and Chatham Cos. NC. Probate records of Richard Parker Sr. have proven elusive to all researchers so far, so Ms. McSwain based her case on Tax, Deed and Church records from the two above mentioned NC Counties as well as Wilkes, Greene and Hancock Counites in GA. (Current research of Hancock Co. supports, but does not prove her conclusions.) The Family Group Sheet you posted appears to be the Family Group of Lewis Parker who died in Hancock Co., GA, about 1825. His will appears in county records, having been written in Dec 1824 and proven in Dec 1826. His heirs match exactly the children given on the Family Group Sheet. Looking at the Federal Census of 1830 Hancock Co., we find a Lewis Parker (probably Jr.) who was aged 30-40 years old. If this is in fact Lewis Parker Jr. then it could be concluded that on the Family Group Sheet, the birthdates of the children are off by about 20 to 30 years. Hope this helps, Lee Nelson, Covington GA __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! Music Experience http://launch.yahoo.com
Slightly stalled, but never stopped. Changing gears here. I believe our Lake Co., IL Parkers followed each other to MN. David, Of course as usual the dates from the LDS is wrong. But, my Lewis Parker was born about 1777. He was in Henry Co. Alabama by 1850. He was in the Randolph County Ga area prior to that. The 1850 census said he was born in SC. I am pretty sure he had brothers named William, Robert and Henry. I am trying to connect them to parents from somewhere. Hancock wasn't formed until 1793 from Green and Washington Countys so we know he wasn't born in Hancock Co.GA. Also, it would be hard for this Lewis Parker b. 1760 to be the parent of these children as he would only be Eight years old when this first child was born. Is anyone on the list descended from Joseph Parker? There are at least 2 Joseph Parkers in Massachusetts early on, and apparently they both resided in Chelmsford at the same time. And yet it seems they were not related. The VRs are rather confusing on which children belong to which Joseph. I keep finding conflicting information. Any help would be appreciated. Jo Hogle

George, you are right, there is a lot of emails coming in on the Parkers that do not relate to their search, but seem to be answers to personal messages, plus the fact, that some of these messages are repeats every day or so. I think if there is no response after 2 or 3 postings, there is no one that can help at that time, so hold back on them until a later date before posting every day. The Stout request line also has the gateway messages. Mary
Hi Listers Well I am still on this "who the heck was John Parker?" kick. I am writing up a family history book. I discovered that I really didn't have anything that could be called conclusive about John Parker who was the purported father of John, Jacob, James, Joseph and Abraham who immigrated to Massachusetts from England in about 1635. According to an article regarding the 5 Parker brothers in the January 1999 issue of NEHGS quarterly, a great deal of the information that seems to be widely accepted by many Parker descendants, is not accurate. It certainly is a convincing article and if it is accurate then it certainly sheds a different light on MY genealogy. It is widely accepted that John Parker was married to Margery ______, who was the mother of Abraham. She died and John married Joane Drake who was the mother of the other 4 sons, But I have seem no real evidence of this fact. A great deal of people submitting that as fact to various places (Ancestry, FTM, LDS) but no evidence at all. Has anyone found that evidence? Does anyone have evidence that John and his wife immigrated to MA? Or was it just their sons? What was the name of the wife/wives of John? I am certain a great deal of the problem is that John Parker was/is an extremely common name. Looking through the LDS website, for John Parker in the British Isles, I sorted through 5000 (yes five thousand) records and we know that their online records are still not complete. ANY leads to a document providing evidence of who the mother/mothers of these 5 men were would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I am banging my head against the wall. Jo Hoglr

If they are talking about our line, we can't respond fro the mailing list anyway. And there is no way of knowing that it is a gatewayed post so we have to open it and look - they really fill up the mailboxes for no reason. As far as the location and date - I also agree. I know recently I was guilty of not doing that and I have no explanation as to why as most of the time I make the attempt - being a listowner of 9 lists, I certainly encourage my list members to do it. It will make the task much easier and less time consuming for all of us. To those of you that do it - THANK YOU. I have no connection to the Southern Parkers at all, and I am so happy when I see a state noted and I can simply delete, just as you no doubt would do the same for my MN Parkers. Good suggestions George Jo Hogle
Hi I'm looking for John S. Parker b. 7/1874 in Ky. m. Cora Elizabeth Priddy this may have been a second marriage. They lived in Rosewood, Harrison County, Indiana. He died 8-13-1933 in Rosewood and is buried in Hedden Cemetery. She moved to Louisville, Ky and died there. I think John's father was George W. Parker he was on the Hart County Census in 1860 census in Hart County. Wifes name was Feba Weese. They had a son by the same name born the same month and year. The dates are the only thing different. Please anyone with info on this John please email me. This is my husbands line that I'm researching. George, I agree with you about the gateway messages. They waste even more time than the spam and off topic messages. When you have to go online just to see if the message is of any interest to you, and most are not, it's very frustrating. If people would even include something about the person or message they are replying to, it would be helpful. Sadly, this is seldom the case. Thanks.
