    1. [PARKER-L] Abraham Parker, b. Granville VT, 1831; Query of Mary Vanderheydt
    2. Margie and George Parker
    3. Dear Mary Vanderheydt and other interested Parker fans, We have struck pay dirt. I can trace your Abraham X. Parker all the way back to Joseph Parker who came on the 'Confidence' in 1638. The line goes as follows: Joseph-1 b. ca. 1614 (maybe in Newbury Eng) d. 11/5/1678 Andover MA m. Mary (Stevens?) 1640 in Newbury MA ten children, the first being Joseph-2 b. 5/15/1642 Andover MA d. 4/6/1684 Andover MA m. Elizabeth (wid. Obadiah Bridges) 10/7/1680 Andover one child Joseph-3 b. 2/27/1682 Andover d. 11/9/1715 Andover m. Abigail Mitchell 2/6/1712 Andover three children (one posthumus) with eldest Joseph-4 b. 1712 Andover d. ? m. Martha Barker 7/4/1734 Andover eight children with eldest Joseph-5 b. 10/9/1735 Andover d. 6/27/1825 Granville VT m. (1) Elizabeth Martin 4/26/1757 Andover four children of whom the third was Abraham-6 below (2) Zeruiah Lincoln 2/6/1766 New Braintree MA ten children of whom the 7th was my ancestor Nathan-6 Abraham-6 b. 6/25/1763 New Braintree MA d. ? m. Sarah Whitney of Granville VT at least four children, eldest being Isaac-7 b. 1799 Granville d. 3/4/1856 Potsdam NY m. Amanda (Patrick?) 1824 at least four children, all but the third dying in infancy Abraham X-8 b. 11/14/1831 Granville, lived Potsdam NY d. 1909 at least two children: Mabel, m . Prof. F.E. Hawthorn, music instructor in Potsdam My father corresponded 1930 with a son Earnest Parker Hawthorn Thurlow W., (probably named for an uncle) My father's notes say that Abraham-6 may have migrated north separately from his father Joseph-5. These notes also say Isaac represented Granville in Vt Legislature Notes say that Abraham X. was a member of Congress. My sources for the first five generations are the Andover vital records, a monograph by Charlotte Abbott of Andover, and notes taken from a family bible now lost. Info on last three is less secure and comes from some notes my father wrote about fifty years ago. If in your searches you find out information regarding Joseph-5, I am most interested in background of Zeruiah Lincoln. I have traced some Lincolns to New Braintree MA and part of that data says that a Sophia Lincoln m. Joseph Parker. I am sure the correct name is Zeruiah based on a namesake a few generations later. I can supply you more information than the above, but it is not in a form conducive to electronic transfer. I could snail mail some printed pages. I am working (verrrrrrrrry slowly) on filling out Abbott's monograph on the first five generations of Parkers in Andover with source references. At the rate I am going it will take several more years. I am George-10 and descend Joseph-5 -> Nathan-6 -> George-7 -> Daniel-8 -> Wilmond-9 -> George-10 George D. Parker

    3. Hi Rob and all other Parker researchers, I agree that some people are very inconsiderate and seem to write as if others on the list have supernatural powers and can "know" what Country the Parkers are from. (or maybe they don't think!). Does anyone recognise themselves ? If so then for your own benefit please change. Your message is likely to be read by more people so you will probably get more help that way. So the moral is : If you put more effort in then you'll get more out. This has to be the worst list (sorry!) for people who don't even indicate what COUNTRY they are talking about. I can figure out abbreviations for states and provinces, but if you say "I'm looking for John Parker born in 1875" then I reach for the "delete" key without even trying to help you. ;-) Rob Rushton Hull E Yorkshire UK > There are many many Parkers bearing the same name.
