    1. [PARKER-L] WILL OF MARTHA PARKER 1765
    2. Has anyone got a copy of the will of Martha Parker who died in 1765 in Isle of Wight, Va. I have when it was presented in court on Sept. 1, 1765 and on the same day the court ordered the estate appraised. These two entries are just abstracts, I would like to read the complete will. If you do not, can anyone suggest whom I should write? Thanks Sterling Parker

    1. [PARKER-L] Copeland PARKER
    2. { SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1}Does anyone have any info on this PARKER family. Copeland PARKER, of Isle of Wight, VA, died 4 Dec 1830. He was a surveyor of customs for the port of Norfolk, VA for 30 years. He married Diana R. HALL on 5 April 1812 in Smithfield VA. She was the only daughter of a Dr. HALL of Petersburg VA. They had a son, Isaac Hall PARKER, died 1 Sep 1895. He married Mary R.------. They had an “adopted” daughter, Mary PARKER, born 1863, in VA, died 8 Mar 1908 in Washington DC. She married Frank Rowe HENRY 15 Nov 1881 in Norfolk VA. It is this "adopted" ( this designation is from the 1880 census) Mary PARKER that I am interested in - she is my great-grandmother. I wonder if she was a member of the Parker family (other sources say Isaac PARKER came from a large family) and was taken in by Isaac and wife. If anyone has these PARKERS in their line or has any info I would appreciate hearing from them.

    3. Hi there, I am very interested in them, especially the one on Wm. Parker of Cumberland County. If you have read over them in their entirety, you might be able to tell me if any of them mention a son named 'Bailey/Baley/Baily'? It might even look like Betty. Betty was not a common name at that time, so if any of them had a child named Betty/Bety, if it does not specifically say it was a daughter, then it could be my Bailey. My Bailey was in Cumberland County for some reason in the mid 1750s. Not sure why, but I found one reference to him there. Could be that his father was from there???? Do you have a scanner, that you could send me via e-mail a copy? Whatever is easiest for you. Sure would appreciate it. 2. I do not know if this will be of any help to the recent Parker inquiries but the state of VA and the religion Methodist both caught my eye. Jefferson Co., VA is now Nelson County, KY. William Parker (see below) was said to be a first cousin of Peter Parker, an travelling Methodist preacher who ran against Abraham Lincoln in a governor's race in IL. I do not have any parents for William Parker b. 1794 in VA/KY. Wm. Parker may have been a brother to James Parker, Sr. and George per text below. 3. DOYLE, Believe it or not I don't think that is my line. Below is what I have basically. I know the part from #3 Peter Parker down to Hardy Parker is correct. I just can't be sure of who the parents of Peter Parker are. I have pieces of proof that I was using to show that Richard Parker was the father of Peter, but then others said that information went to a different Richard Parker. I believe there was even a third Richard someone claimed. Too confusing. We need someone in that area to do some serious looking, digging into all of the old files and deeds. It is too difficult to do long distance. thanks, Kathy. Direct Descendants of Thomas Parker 1 Thomas Parker b: Abt. 1599 in Wyonbishe, Middlesex, England d: Bef. 3. STERLING, It appears you are stuck right at the same spot as most of us are. From here back is the confusion about the Richard, Peter, Thomas & Francis Parkers which I refer to as the Nansemond and/or Virginia Parkers. No one can seem to agree on which one went with which wife and which one went to which other county. I have gotten my husbands line back to Peter Parker b.abt. 1663 Nansemond Co, VA? and died Bef April 22, 1720 in Chowan Co, NC. From there I can prove they went to New Hanover & Duplin Co, NC, to Wash. Co, GA. to Perry & Jones Co. Mississsippi and then to Angelina & Hardin Co. Texas. Same pattern as yours. Probably distant cousins. But the problem has been getting back from Nansemond Co, VA. I live in Texas and don't have access to most of the records and am tired of writing trying to get copies of papers, and when I do they haven't helped. So, I fear we are going to have to hope someone either goes to that area of Virginia to research it or someone living there will eventually search. (do you by chance?) I know there have been previous researchers years ago that did look thru deeds, probate etc. but there is so much more out there and available now. I have had one person come up with proof that one of the Richards had this wife, and someone else has proof that it was actually another Richard with a different wife's name???? Unfortunately I have given up for now on that line. If anyone finds something, PLEASE post to the lists so we can all see and discuss. 1. [PARKER-L] Sylvia (HOPKINS) PARKER c1830's Vermont?
    2. Richard Hillenbrand
    3. Looking for any information on Sylvia (HOPKINS) PARKER who gave affidavit c1830's for her sister Cynthia (HOPKINS) HULET, widow of Rev. War pensioner, Aaron HULET of Shaftsbury, VT. Cynthia was b.1775 probably in Hopkins Hill, Kent Co., RI., they are likely the daughters of Capt.? Joseph HOPKINS & Mary (AUSTIN?) of RI. Suspect her sister Sylvia to have been born c1760's-1780's. Would expect this unknown PARKER family to likely reside in Bennington or Rutland Co., VT., or poss. RI, CT, NY? There was another sister, Bethia/Elizabeth? (HOPKINS) REYNOLDS, also of unknown location or age who also gave affidavit for Cynthia's widow's pension application. Welcome all ideas and remote possibilities.

    1. [PARKER-L] Daniel PARKER
    2. Hello Cousins, Looking for information on Daniel PARKER's wife, Angeline. Daniel was born 1808, died 1892. I believe Angeline was born 1812, died 1849. Cannot confirm this. Don't have a maiden name for Angeline. They had six girls: Permela, Polly, Lovina, Savilla, Julia, Lydia. My husband descends from Savilla who married Archibald MANCHESTER from Barre, Orleans Co., NY. They moved to Michigan between 1860 and 1870. If anyone has info to share on this family, I'd love to hear from you. TIA. Sue Schroeder
