    1. [PARKER-L] Christopher Parker of the Alamo
    2. I have found a Christopher Parker who died at the Alamo in Texas on March 16, 1836. The information comes from "The Handbook of Texas Online". I am interested in finding out if anyone can lay claim to this Parker, for he died in a noble cause. Christopher Adams Parker b. 1814, d. 1836 was the son of William and Hannah (Armstrong) Parker. He traveled from Natchez, Mississippi, to Texas. Parker was a decedent of the Sparrow family, English Quakers who had immigrated to Ireland during the Cromwell Protectorate. One of his Ancestors fought in Emmett's Rebellion and was expelled form Ireland. His grandfather, James Armstrong, served under George Washington at Valley Forge. His father was a veteran of the battle of New Orleans. Christopher Parker signed the controversial Goliad Declaration of Independence of December 20, 1835. He may or may not have been born in Mississippi. Thanks and let me know if this is anyone's ancestor. Sterling Parker, a native of Texas

    2. James R. Parker
    3. I am stumper trying to locate my ggrandfather,Abraham F. Parker. If any one has information with any Abraham Parker in their family files, there may be a connection I could work with. The first thing I have was his marriage to Cecila A. Duncan in Daviess Co. Kentucky, November 5,1842 (Located east of Owensboro, western part of the stste). In 1863 they owned property in Yelvington which they sold to Joseph Turnham. Cecila's father, John Hewitt Duncan family, had several acres in the Yelvington area. Abraham was not listed in county tax records after 1874-1880. Have been unable to find any record of his or Cecila's death or burial. They had reserved burial plots on the property sold to Joseph Turnham. There were eight son's in the family. Benjamine Wesley, Edwin Hewitt, Calvin Morris, Joseph E. and Charles Edward. The three other son's died before 1866. Thanks Any information may help. marker16@owensboro.net James R. Parker 2543 Burton Rd. Utica, KY 42376 marke16@owensboro.net

    1. [PARKER-L] Making of America On-Line Genealogical Printed Matter in Digital Fromat
    2. Eugene Hubbard
    3. Dear List: This is a broadcast message sent as a service to genealogists (see below): Ray Sears of Ray Sears <lrsears@capecod.net> wrote in part: "The Making of America Project at U Mich (8,000 books, 2,000 articles) is a boon to all of us who don't have easy access to New England Libraries." He provided a direct link to "The History of Cape Cod" as http://www.hti.umich.edu/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=moa;idno=aja2089.0001.001;view=toc and an alternative to the MOA main page as http://www.hti.umich.edu/m/moagrp/ I visited the MOA main page and was impressed by both the search engine, the quality of the imaging of books, and the fact that, besides being able to view material on-line (and print it out) one can purchase printed copy, including whole books, for what I consider a nominal fee. I immediately began to browse "History of Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts: Including Lynnfield, Saugus, Swampscot, and Nahant" by Alonzo Lewis and James R. Newhall. I found that there are three ways to view page content: in image form, in text form and in PDF format. I found I could only print out material which was in PDF format, probably due to the way I had set up my browser ....no big deal... The search engine for the website is extremely powerful, and likely to provide more references than desired, so it is best used employing Boolean arguments to be accessed with the "Other Searches" button. If you have a website, it might be well to provide a link to MOA. The service UMICH is providing is so great it would serve them well if you forwarded this message to other genealogists. For this purpose you may quote my message in whole or in part. Thanks, Eugene Hubbard

    1. [PARKER-L] Sam Parker
    2. I am searching for anyone who has information on a Samuel Parker, called Sam. He owned a farm in Columbus, GA in the 1940;s and 1950. I believe this farm was located on Macon Rd. I don't know his age but he had grandchildren in those years. I met him once when I was a child as he visited my Mother. They were cousins. Seeking his relatives to ask them if they know anything about Samuel,s parents and/or siblings. I believe also that he had a granddaughter who was a Srorey. Later in life she lived on Dauphin Island. She was also related to a Storey who lived on 17th Street in the 1940. Would greatly appreciate any information on contacting relatives of Sam. Pat in FL

    1. [PARKER-L] PARKER circa 1866 Arkansas
    2. Hello, I hope someone can help me with a Parker brickwall. I have Hettie Elizabeth Parker b 1866. She was the second wife of J W Munnerlyn of Lonoke, AR. Hettie had a brother, Joseph Monroe Parker. I'd sure like to know who their parents were and any other information anyone might be willing to share. I also have a Parker line in Derbyshire, England, in the 1400s. Petrus Peryns married Kathrine Parker, daughter of John Parker. Any connections there? They connect several generations down the line to Capt. Thomas Graves. Thanks, Sandra Proud to no longer be an IBSSG member.

    2. Budd Warren
    3. I'm trying to locate information about James Parker who was a musician and in show business in the 1930's. James may have been born about 1912 or possibly even before. He was from the east coast, possibly New York City, and around 1932-1933 was traveling with a show group organized by a fellow named Shorty Sutton. They traveled on the east coast through Virginia and other states, but also to other cities inland. They were in Detroit, Michigan for awhile in 1934. I sure appreciate any possible info. Good luck to all of you researching Parker lines. budd warren __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Find out what made the Top Yahoo! Searches of 2003 http://search.yahoo.com/top2003
