    1. The book - Parker In America
    2. Carl Williams
    3. Does anyone have a copy of the book, Parker In America, 1630-1910, by Augustus G. Parker? I need a copy of the index. I bought a CD of the book, and the index lists only PARKERs. I would like to look up people other than Parkers sometime. Can anyone help, or offer a suggestion? I realize I'm leaving myself wide open on that one. Y'all be nice.... Thanks, Carl Williams, in Parker Co., TX

    3. Many, including myself have long thought that the Martha Parker who married William Beauchamp, son of William & Nancy Parker Beauchamp, was the daughter of Isaiah Parker that was living amoung the maze of Parkers of central Georgia. As you can see from the act of the legislature I have pasted in below, it appears she was not the natural daughter of Isaiah Parker. Would anyone know of either Martha's ancestry or that of Isaiah. I have found a lineage of Isaiah that goes back to the Thomas Parker of Nasemond Co VA and further back to Yorkshire England ca 1500. Thanks. Gary ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE State of Georgia, PASSED IN MILLEDGEVILLE AT AN ANNUAL SESSION IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER, 1829. RELIEF LAWS. 1829 Vol. 1 -- Page: 122 Sequential Number: 111 Full Title: AN ACT to change the names of certain persons therein mentioned, and to legitimatise those persons whose names are so changed, and to constitute Martha Beauchamp the legal heir and representative of Isaiah Parker of DeKalb county. Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That Martha Beauchamp, wife of William Beauchamp of DeKalb county, be, and she is hereby constituted the legal heir and representative of Isaiah Parker of said county, in as full and ample a manner as if she had been the legitimate child of the said Isaiah, any law to the contrary notwithstanding. WARREN JOURDAN, Speaker of the House of Representatives. THOMAS STOCKS, President of the Senate. GEORGE R. GILMER, Governor. Approval Date: Assented to, Dec. 22, 1829.

    1. RE: Parker DNA--Phillip Powers Parker--KY to LA
    2. Craig Borne
    3. Hello List, It has been a while since I saw any discussion of the Phillip Powers (or Powell) Parker line of Kentucky in 1797 to Louisiana. I am of the line through Leslie Preston Parker (1845-1919) of Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes. Related to the previous DNA message, are there any descendants of this line who are eligible to participate in the study? If so, please contact me on or off list. 3. Seeking Mr. Parker who died at Barre, Worcester, Mass in 1810 - so written in the church records at Barre in 1810. The only Parker in Barre in 1810 was David Parker who was recently married and in a transition from Northboro to Barre. He was the son of Isaac Parker. Can anyone identify who Jesse Parker was of New Braintree and Stephen Parker of Brookfield ? I also believe that an illegitimate child was conceived of a male last named Parker and the widow Mrs. Lucy Knight - formerly the wife of Moses Whipple. Mrs. Knight later married Peter Fitts at Oakham. Got an opinion - be glad to hear it. Jack

    3. Its been a good 30 years and I am still mashing my head against the wall. I was finally able to locate the obituary of my Eliza Parker. One thing of note in the obit Was that she was born in Brimfield,Mass June 28, 1808. By 1833 Eliza Parker married George Caldwell of Barre, Worcester Co. Mass. In a letter in 1910 her grandson indicated that Eliza's father was Peter - don't know if this was right but I will assume that he knew what his great grandfathers name was. There was a Peter born over in Oxford,Mass. And was wondering if he was her father - but don't have a marriage or his ancestry. He may be related to the Cutler and Covell family at Oxford. One piece of useless info - in Eliza's snuff box was a banknote dated 1809 and issued at Montpelier, Vt about the time of her birth. Jack Hanover,Pa. Any ideas I am interested.

    1. Parker DNA project update, 4/25/04
    2. Cousins: A couple of additional DNA results have been added to our PARKER surname DNA project at: http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/ The new test results are for P05 and P07. Neither matched any of our other PARKER DNA lines. Take a look at the ancestors page to see the oldest identified ancestor for each line. The small group of test participants we have so far shows a very diverse genetic history for our surname. Email me if you have questions or comments. 1. Parker DNA project update, 4/9/04
    2. Cousins: We have our first DNA match for the PARKER surname project!!! I updated our web page today: http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/ click on 'results' to see the match. Two new test results were added, P06 and P08. The match is between P04 and P06. P04 had his line to James PARKER b 1815 TN. P06 lives in England and his oldest confirmed PARKER is William Parker 1696, the family was in Kirby on the Moor, which is in North Yorkshire, from pre 1700 to after 1900. This match was completely unexpected by both. They are both excited about it (as I am) and have started collaborating to see if they can find a link. I made a couple of other changes to the web page, replacing the 'success stories' page with something called 'DNA matches and mis-matches'. Please email me with any questions, comment, or suggestions. Dennis West in Knoxville, TN coordinator for PARKER surname DNA project.
