Vicki, I'm sorry for not making it clear. There are some people out there who won't be able to access HQ. I suggest you check with your local library or one in the largest city in your county, or what ever and see if they have access to it and if you can access it thru them. Thats how i get on to it. There is a way to get it otherwise but i don't know how to do it. I'm sorry that i didn't make that clear for you and others. I hope this helps. Mary To the Parker list, Help! :) I tried going to the web site got Heritage and clicked on publications. However, I tried many times in entering a username & password , it would not accept anything from me. I clicked back to see how to contact Heritage but their is nothing at the top or bottom to Contact them. Any suggestions? In a message dated 6/11/2004 7:36:05 AM Central Daylight Time, jitsu@gru.net writes: I'm descended from Capt. James Parker of Groton, MA and also descended through his brother Abraham of Chelmsford, MA. Does anyone have the names of their parents or birthplace in England? Charles The father of these men was John Parker who was born in Great Burstead, Essex, England based on information in an article in the NEGHR of January 1999. His wife, and mother of his children (there were seven) has been commonly accepted as Joane Drake although I have seen no evidence of that other than a statement of their marriage in a marriage CD which is some records, some statements. According to that record it claims that Joane Drake and John Parker were married in 1616 which is after the births of the oldest sons, John and James. However I have found transcriptions of parish registers in Great Burstead (on the LDS website) for the births of all the children that list the mother as Ann - and a marriage of John Parker and Ann Gelley in Great Burstead in 1611 which is the proper time frame. These are transcriptions and not submitted records - a big difference. Obviously more research is needed, but I personally believe that Ann Gelley was the mother of all of these children born in Great Burstead, Essex, England and that Joane Parker was his second wife. I too am descended by James Parker and his brother Abraham Parker throug the marriage of their children, James (James) and Mary (Abraham) Parker. What is your line of descent? Jo Hogle

I thank everyone who answered my query concerning an index for the book, "Parker In America". I bought a CD of the book and found the index only references "Parker". Some of the e-mails I received tell me the book does in fact only index the Parker name. I'll have to be happy with that. For those who asked me where I bought the CD, I have answered privately. I found the CD listed on EBay, but it was mailed to me from Heritage Publications, 1412-B East Blvd. #140, Charlotte, NC 282203. The email address, www.heritagepublications.com a few days ago only had a message that said they are not selling on EBay at this time, or something like that. Anyone interested can contact them by mail or continue to monitor their email address. I paid $16.95 plus $2.95 shipping for my CD. I am in the process of printing the book from the CD. I will do look-ups of Parkers - contact me privately. Thanks again for the information. Best wishes to you all..... Carl Williams, in Parker Co., TX

This is a large book -- 592 pages, 8-1/2 x 11. It is, unfortunately, not easy to use, as it is a more or less random collection of paragraphs about and from various individuals of the name Parker. There is a table of contents, of a sort; there is nothing, at least in the printing I have, resembling an index. The author himself , in the book's subtitle, gives a clue to the randomness: What the Historians say of Them What a Large Number Say of Themselves Genealogical and Biographical Interesting Historical Incidents The book is available, as a photocopied reprint, printed only on demand, from Higginson Books www.higginsonbooks.com, in the genealogies section. I did a google search and it is on Parker Heritage site. If you have a large library they can run a search to find which libraries have a copy, then possibly interlibrary loan. I believe you will find that 'Parker in America' is pretty much restricted to New England and New York Parkers. As I recall it is very poorly indexed. George
Unless I am mistaken, the Parkers in America that was mentioned in Parker Heritage, on CD, was for the folks that subscribed to PH......I will have a look at my copies of the newsletter, and report back the first part of next week.....cheers, Phyl in Reno ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rh Domino" <rhdomino@hotmail.com> To: <PARKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 10, 2004 4:08 PM Subject: RE: [PARKER-L] Parker in America > Charles, > > I didn't think about CD's. Yes, it was mentioned in one of the Newsletters of Parker Heritage. However, I think that connection does not exist anymore. I sent my dues for this year a long time ago, and have heard nothing from the fellow who started PH. He has not replied to my E-mails, either.....cheers, Phyl in Reno ----- Original Message ----- From: <jitsu@gru.net> To: <PARKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 10, 2004 4:01 PM Subject: [PARKER-L] Parker in America > It may have been mentioned that the book, Parker in America is on CD.
